Needle: One "Boye" crochet hook Size 5
Gauge: 4 loops to 2½ inches; 6 rows of loops to 2 inches
Note: Gauge is measured when pattern is "opened up." Directions are for a 32-inch dress measured from hemline to back of neck, allowing 1½ inches for stretch. To lengthen or shorten make adjustment before starting yoke.
Back: Ch 180(190-200).
Row 1: 1 sc in 9th ch from hook to count as first loop, * ch 5, skip 4 ch, 1 sc in next ch, repeat from * until there are 33(35-37) loops, ch 7, turn. Cut off rem'ing chain.
Row 2: 1 sc in first loop, * ch 5, 1 sc in next loop, repeat from * across, ch 7, turn. Repeat Row 2 for pat, working to 30 inches or 2 inches less than desired finished length from hemline to neck, ch 3 instead of 7 at end of last row, turn. Width across back is 20¾(22-23¼) inches.
Yoke: 1 sc in first loop, * ch 1, 1 sc in next loop, repeat from * across, end with 1 sc in last loop - 33(35-37) sc, ch 2, turn.
Row 2: 1 sc in first ch-1 space, * ch 1, 1 sc in next ch-1 space, repeat from * across, ch 2, turn. Repeat Row 2 three times more omitting last ch 2 at end of last row. Fasten off.
Front: Work same as back. Seam side edges of yoke for shoulders. Starting at hemline sew side seams to 6¼(6½-6¾) inches below shoulder. On right side starting at side seam, crochet 1 row of sc around armholes holding in if desired.
