Knitting Needles:
One pair "Boye" Size 6

Gauge: 5 sts to 1 inch; 7 rows to 1 inch

Stripe Pattern: With A - starting with a K row, work 8 rows in St St. With B - work 2 rows in St St. Repeat these 10 rows for pat.

Note: Directions are for a 35½(35¾-36-36¼-36½) inch dress measured from hem to back of neck allowing 1 inch for blocking. To lengthen or shorten, make adjustment before first dec row.

Back: With A - cast on 130(134-137-141-146). Starting with a K row work 8 rows in St St. Place a marker at each end of last row for hem. Work in Stripe Pat until there are 8 B stripes then work in St St with A only And At The Same Time when work measures 2¼ inches from markers, dec 1 each side on next row, every 6th row 7(7-8-9-9) times then every 4th row 7(7-5-3-3) times. Work on the 100(104-109-115-120) sts to 13 inches above markers, end on right side. Width across hipline is 20(21-22-23-24) inches.

Darts: With A only - P 30(31-33-35-37), place a marker, P 40(42-43-45-46), place a marker, P to end.

Next row K to 2 sts before marker, K 2 tog, sl marker, K to next marker, sl marker, sl 1, K 1, psso, K to end. Repeat dart dec every 8th row 6(6-6-3-3) times then On Sizes 16(18) Only repeat dart dec every 6th row 4 times more.

Remove dart markers. Work on the 86(90-95-99-104) sts to 27 inches above markers, or desired length to underarm, end on wrong side. Width across back is 17¼(18-19-20-21) inches.

Raglan Armholes: Bind off 4(4-5-5-5) at beg of next 2 rows. Next row K 3, K 2 tog, K to last 5 sts, sl 1, K 1, psso, K 3. P 1 row. Repeat last 2 rows until 32(34-35-37-40) sts rem. Sl sts to a holder for neck.

Front: Work same as back until 42(44-45-47-50) rem, end on right side.

Neck: P 11 and sl them to a holder, P center 20(22-23-25-28) and sl them to 2nd holder for neck, P to end. Bind off 2 at neck 3 times and continue to dec at raglan until 2 sts rem, end on wrong side. K the 2 sts. P 2 tog and fasten off. Starting at neck, work other side to correspond.

Sleeves: With A - cast on 80(82-84-86-88). Starting with a K row, work 8 rows in St St. Place a marker at each end for hem. Work in stripe pat, shaping as follows:
Work 9 rows, end on right side.

Row 10: P 11(10-11-11-12), place a marker on needle, * P 20(21-21-22-22) place a marker, repeat from * twice more, P to end.

Dec Row: * K to marker, sl marker, K 2 tog, repeat from * 3 times more, K to end.

Note: Sl markers on every row. Repeat dec row every 10th row 4 times more. Remove markers. Work on the 60(62-64-66-68) sts until 6th B stripe has been completed. With A only - continue in St St to 17 inches above hem or desired length to underarm, end on wrong side. Width across sleeve at underarm is 12(12¼-12¾-13¼-13¾) inches.

Raglan Cap: Bind off 4 at beg of next 2 rows.

Dec: K 3, K 2 tog, K to last 5, sl 1, K 1, psso, K 3. Repeat dec every 4th row twice then every other row until 10 sts rem. Sl sts to a holder. Sew raglan seams, leaving left back seam open.

Neckband: With A - on right side, pick up and K 90(94-96-100-104), including holders. P 1 row and K 1 row. With B - work 2 rows. With A - work 9 rows. Bind off loosely. Sew raglan seam, joining neckband. Sew sleeve and underarm seams. Turn in hems at markers and sew in place. Turn neckband in half and sew in place.
