Knitting Needles: One pair "Boye" Size 5

Gauge: 11 sts to 2 inches; 15 rows to 2 inches

Note: Directions are for a 36(36¼-36½-36¾-37) inch dress measured from hem to shoulder.

Stripe Pattern: Work in St St, starting with a K row as follows: 4 rows of B, 2 rows of C, 2 rows of A, 2 rows of C, 4 rows of  B, 6 rows of A, 2 rows of C, 4 rows of A, 2 rows of C, 4 rows of A, 2 rows of C, 6 rows of A. Repeat these 40 rows for stripe pat.

Back: With Color B - cast on 113(117-123-127-133). K 1 row and P 1 row for 5 rows. K next P row for turn. Continue in St St following stripe pat to 3½ inches above turn. Dec 1 each side on next row then every 2 inches 5 times more. Width across hipline is 18¼(19-20-21-22) inches. Continuing stripes dec 1 each side every 2¾ inches 3 times. Work on the 95(99-105-109-115) until 2 rows of 12th B stripe have been completed. Length above turn is about 28 inches. Width across back is 17¼(18-19-19¾-21) inches.

Armholes: Bind off 3(3-3-4-4) at beg of next 2 rows. This completes the last B stripe. Continuing St St work in yoke stripe pat of 6 rows of A and 2 rows of C And At The Same Time dec 1 each side every row 3(3-5-5-7) times then every other row 5 (6-6-6-6) times.

Work on the 73(75-77-79-81) sts to 6¾(7-7¼-7½-7¾) inches straight above underarm, end on right side. Width across shoulders is 13¼(13¾-14-14¼ -14¾) inches.

Neck and Shoulders: Work 22(22-23-23-24) and sl them to a holder, work center 29(31-31-33-33) and sl them to a 2nd holder for neck, work to end. Bind off 2 at neck twice And At The Same Time bind off 6 sts at armhole edge 3(3-2-2-2) times then On Sizes 14(16-18) Only bind off 7(7-8) at same edge once. Work other side to correspond.

Front: Work same as back to 4¼(4½- 4¾-5-5¼) inches above underarm, end on right side.

Neck: Work 28(28-29-29-30) and sl them to a holder, work center 17(19-19-21-21) and sl them to a 2nd holder, work to end. Bind off 2 at neck edge 5 times. Work on the 18(18-19-19-20) sts until armhole matches back armhole.

Shoulder: Bind off 6 sts at armhole edge 3(3-2-2-2) times then On Sizes 14(16-18) Only bind off 7(7-8) at same edge once. Work other side to correspond.

Sleeves: With A - cast on 66(68-70-72-74). K 1 row and P 1 row for 5 rows. K next P row for turn. Work in yoke stripe pat as on back to 3 inches above turn, end with 6th row of an A stripe. Width across sleeve is 12(12¼-12¾-13-13¼) inches.

Sleeve Cap: Bind off 3 at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 each side every other row until 26 sts rem. Bind off 2 at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off rem'ing 18 sts. Sew left shoulder seam.

Neckband: On wrong side with A - pick up and K 91(95-95-99-99) around neck including holders. P 1 row and K 1 row for 6 rows, inc'ing 6 sts evenly spaced across last row. P 1 row and K 1 row on the 97(101-101-105-105) sts for 6 rows. Break off A and attach C. P 1 row. Bind off loosely. Sew right shoulder seam. Sew in sleeves matching stripes. Seam underarm and sleeves. Turn up hems and sew in place. Turn neckband to right side and sew in place with Color C.
