Corn Cob Pot Holder Pattern #21

MATERIALS—Lily Rug Yarn, One Skein each of Yellow and White, a few yards of Green.

Knitting Needles—One pair of straight No. 10 (standard).

GAUGE—5 sts. = 1 inch.

Starting at lower edge with White, cast on 35 sts. K3 rows. Join Yellow. ROW 1—* K5 Yellow, K5 White, repeat from * across the row (carry yarn from one color to the other loosely, across the back of work).

ROW 2—* K5 White, pass White yarn under needle toward you, then pass Yellow yarn under needle from you and K5 Yellow, pass Yellow yarn under needle toward you, and pass White yarn under needle from you, repeat from * across the row.

NOTE:—Always K the Yellow sts with White and the White sts with Yellow.

Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures 9 inches. Bind off.

FINISHING—With White yarn catch every 5th st across the lower edge, draw together. Fasten firmly. In the same manner draw the top edge together and sew the sides together for 2 inches. Thread a tapestry needle with Green and working the Lazy Daisy stitch, form 5 leaves, around the top. With Green make a 3 inch chain. Sew ends together in center of the top to form a loop.
