White Knitting Needles, 1 pair Size 4.
White Crochet Hook, Size 2.
Bucilla Six Strand, 1 skein each of two Contrasting Colors for embroidery.
Gauge: (blocked) 13 sts = 2 inches; 9 rows = 1 inch
Measurements—Chest 21 ins. Length from lower edge to back of neck 11 ½ ins. Width of sleeve 7 ½ ins.
Back And Fronts—Cast on 136 sts for lower edge.
First row—(wrong side)—P 6, k 3, * p 1, k 2 *; repeat between *’s to within 7 sts of end, k 1, p 6.
2nd row—K 6, p 3, * k 1, p 2 *; repeat between *’s to within 7 sts of end, p 1, k 6.
3rd row—Same as first row.
4th row—Same as 2nd row.
5th row—Same as first row.
6th row—K all sts.
7th row—P 6, k 1; repeat between *’s of first row to within 6 sts of end, p last 6 sts.
8th row—K 6, p 2; repeat between *’s of 2nd row to within 8 sts of end, k 1, p 1, k 6.
9th row—Same as 7th row.
10th row—Same as 8th row.
11th row—Same as 7th row.
12th row—K all sts.
13th row—P 6, k 2; repeat between *’s of first row to within 8 sts of end, p 1, k 1, p 6.
14th row—K 6, p 1; repeat between *’s of 2nd row to within 6 sts of end, k 6. Repeat 13th, 14th and 13th rows.
18th row—K all sts. Repeat these 18 rows of pattern, until about 7 ¼ ins. from beginning, end with 11th pattern row.
Next row (right side)—K 31 sts, slip to holder for right front, bind off 7 sts for first underarm, k until 60 sts from bind-off, slip to holder for back, bind off 7 sts for 2nd underarm, k to end (31 sts).
Left Front—Work pattern on 31 sts until 2 ins. above underarm, end on wrong side with 11th pattern row.
Next row—K 25 sts, slip last 6 sts to holder for yoke. Turn, bind off 3 sts at beginning of next row for neck edge, finish row. Continue pattern, decreasing 1 st at neck edge every row 11 times. Work 1 row even.
Next row—Bind off 6 sts from armhole edge, finish row. Work 1 row even. Bind off 5 sts (11 sts for shoulder). Do not break yarn.
Yoke—Working from right side, pick up and k 20 sts on neck edge, slip the 6 front border sts to free needle, k these 6 sts (26 sts). P 1 row, k 1 row, p 1 row.
First dec. row—K 5, * k 2 tog, k 5; repeat from * twice (23 sts). P 1 row, k 1 row, p 1 row.
2nd dec. row—* K 4, k 2 tog; repeat from * twice, k 5 (20 sts). Bind off as to p.
Right Front—Slip the 31 sts of right front to needle. Beginning at underarm, work until 2 ins. above underarm, end with 12th pattern row.
Next row—Work 25 sts, slip last 6 sts to holder. Turn, bind off 3 sts at beginning of next row. Continue to correspond to left front, breaking off after last row of shoulder shaping.
Yoke—Take up and k the 6 border sts, working from right side, pick up and k 20 sts on neck edge, to same needle. Finish as for left front.
Back—Slip the 60 sts of back to needle. Join yarn at left underarm, work pattern until 3 ½ ins. above underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of next 6 rows (18 sts for each shoulder). Bind off 24 sts.
Sleeves—Cast on 36 sts. Work ribbing of k 1, p 1 for 1 in. Next row, work ribbing, increasing 1 st in every 6th st 6 times (42 sts).
Pattern—First row (wrong side)—K 1, * p 1, k 2; repeat from *, end p 1, k 1. Continue pattern, increasing 1 st each side every 1 ½ ins. 3 times (48 sts). Work even until 7 ins. from beginning, end with 11th pattern row. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of next 8 rows. Bind off 24 sts.
Finishing—Sew seams. Sew in sleeves, with sleeve seam at center underarm and fullness held in at top. Join yarn at lower edge of right front, working from right side, work 1 row sc around neck and down left front edge, keeping work flat and increasing at corners. Fasten off. Steam to given measurements.
Embroider lazy daisies with French knot centers as illustrated. Sew on ribbon.
