Requirements:
YARN: Knitting Worsted: Main Color 18 oz. Design Colors: 3-oz. each of Blue and Red. ½-oz. Green 10-yards each of Brown and Lt. Blue.
NEEDLES: 1-pr. each No. 2 and No. 5 single pointed. 1-set No. 2 double pointed.
CHART
GAUGE: 5 ½-sts to an inch. 6 ¼ rows to an inch.
BACK: Using #2 needles and the main color, cast on 119 sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 4 inches. Now change to the #5 needles and follow the diagram. Decreases at the underarm are made by binding off the number of sts shown, in bind off always slip the first st.
SHOULDERS: Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of the next 10 rows (25 sts for each shoulder). Place the remaining sts onto a st holder for the back of neck.
FRONT: Make the front the same as the back until you come to the shaping of the neck. Work over 30 sts and leave on the needle; place the next 35 sts onto a st holder to be held for the center of the neck; and the remaining 30 sts onto a 2nd st holder for shoulder. Now continue on the first 30 sts, making decreases as shown. Then work until the shoulder is completed. Place the sts of the 2nd st holder onto the needle and work 2nd shoulder as shown in the diagram.
SLEEVES: Using the #2 needles and the main color cast on 48 sts and work in ribbing for 3 inches. Increasing to 57 sts on the last row of ribbing. Now follow the diagram, making the increases as shown at each side of the sleeve. Make the decreases for the top of the sleeve by binding off at the beginning of each row the number of sts shown. Then bind off remaining sts.
FINISHING: Sew the shoulder and side seams. Sew sleeve seams and sew into armhole.
NECK BAND: Using the #2 dble pointed needles pick up and knit 96 sts around the neck edge. Work in ribbing for 9 rows. Now bind off all sts loosely.
