"DAWN" INFANT'S WOOL, Article W 5.

14-1 oz. Balls are sufficient for entire set.
Each article if made separately requires:
Carriage Cover: 8-1 oz. Balls
Sacque: 4-1 oz. Balls
Cap: 2-1 oz. Balls
Booties: 1-1 oz. Ball
Mittens: 1-1 oz. Ball
Any of the following American Thread Company Product may be used for trim.
4-60 yd. Balls "SILLATEEN SANSIL", Article 102.
1-250 yd. Ball "SILLATEEN SANSIL", Article 101.
4-60 yd. Balls "STAR" Pearl Cotton, Article 90, Size 5.
3-100 yd. Balls "STAR" Rayon Crochet, Article 700.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 9 for trim thread.

KNITTED CARRIAGE COVER No. 4310

1 Pr. Steel Knitting Needles No. 3.

Cast on 205 sts and work in garter st (K each row) until section measures 3 inches, then start pattern.
1st Row. K 25, * Y O, sl 1, K 1, P S S O, K 1, K 2 tog, Y O, K 1, repeat from * across row ending with K 24.
2nd Row. K 23, P across row to within last 23 sts. K 23.
3rd Row. K 26, * Y O, sl 1, K 2 tog, P S S O, Y O, K 3, repeat from * across row ending with K 23.
4th Row. Repeat 2nd row.
Repeat from 1st row of pattern until work measures 29 inches, then work 3 inches in garter st, bind off. Block and press.
With trim thread, work a row of shells all around cover having 105 shells down each side and 102 shells across top and lower edge. (Shell: ch 3, 2 d c in same space, skip 1 st, s c in next st). Embroider in French knots and lazy daisy flowers as illustrated.

KNITTED SACQUE No. 4310

1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3.

Cast on 171 sts and work 6 rows in garter st, then start pattern.
1st Row. K 8, * Y O, sl 1, K 1, P S S O, K 1, K 2 tog,
Y O, K 1, repeat from * across row ending with K. 7. 2nd Row. K 6, P across row to within last 6 sts, K 6. 3rd Row. K 9, * Y O, sl 1, K 2 tog, P S S O, Y O, K 3, repeat from * across row ending with K 6.
4th Row. Repeat 2nd row.
Repeat from 1st row of pattern until work measures 6½ inches ending with last row of pattern, then divide sts for yoke. K across 56 sts, (right front) place remaining sts on a st holder, K 5 rows on the 56 sts.
Next Row. K across row to within last 6 sts, bind off 3 sts for buttonhole, K remaining sts.
In the following row, cast on 3 sts over the bound off sts and K across row. * K 10 rows, work a buttonhole in next row. Cast on 3 sts over the bound off sts in next row and repeat from *.
K 1 row, bind off 28 sts for neck, then K 4 more rows for shoulder, bind off. Pick up 84 sts for back and K 33 rows, then K across 28 sts for shoulder, bind off next 28 sts for neck, then K 4 more rows for shoulder, bind off. Attach yarn and complete other shoulder. Pick up remaining sts and work left front same as right front to neck, (omitting buttonholes) bind off 3 sts for neck and complete shoulder.

SLEEVES: Cast on 52 sts and K 6 rows, then work in pattern.
1st Row. K 2, * Y O, sl 1, K 1, P S S O, K 1, K 2 tog, Y O, K 1, repeat from * across row ending with K 2. 2nd Row. P across row.
3rd Row. K 3, * Y O, sl 1, K 2 tog, P S S O, Y O, K 3, re­peat from * across row ending with K 1.
4th Row. Repeat 2nd row.
Repeat from 1st row of pattern until sleeve measures 7 inches, bind off.
Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeve seams, sew sleeves in posi­tion and attach buttons.

COLLAR: With wrong side of work toward you, pick up 70 sts around neck. K 1 row increasing in every 5th st, then K 3 rows even. Increase in every 6th st in next row, then K 9 rows even, bind off. With trim thread, work a row of shells around collar. Embroider yoke as illustrated.

KNITTED CAP No. 4310

1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3 and No. 1.

On No. 3 needles, cast on 100 sts and K 6 rows, then work in pattern same as sleeve of sacque for 6 inches ending with last row of pattern, bind off. Press, fold in half and sew seam.
On No. 1 needles, pick up 64 sts around lower edge and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for ½ inch, bind off.

POMPON: Wind 75 times over 4 fingers, tie in center, trim into shape. Attach to top of cap.

CORDS: Cut 8 1½ yd. lengths of yarn, twist both ends, fold in half, hold ends and let twist itself. Attach to cap and finish ends with pompons.
(Wind yarn about 50 times over fingers.)
(If desired ribbon ties may be used and only 1-1 oz. Ball of yarn will be required for cap.)

Embroider front of cap as illustrated with trim thread.

KNITTED BOOTIES No. 4310

1 Pr. Knitting Needles No. 3.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 2.

Cast on 40 sts, K 6 rows and work in pattern same as sleeve of sacque until bootie measures 3 inches. K across 14 sts, place these sts on a st holder, K across next 12 sts, place remaining sts on a st holder.
Work back and forth on the 12 instep sts until instep measures 2 inches. Pick up 8 sts on side of instep, place the 14 sts from st holder on free needle and K across the 14 sts, then K across 34 sts, pick up 8 sts on other side of instep. Place remaining 14 sts from st holder on free needle and K across the 14 sts. K 16 rows, bind off. Sew sole and back seam. Crochet 2 chs about 15 inches long. Lace through top of bootie. With trim thread, embroider instep of each bootie as illustrated.

KNITTED MITTENS No. 4310

1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3.

Work same as bootie until mitten measures 4 inches, then K 2 tog across row, bind off leaving an end, thread into needle and draw sts together. Sew side of mitten. Crochet 2 chs about 12 inches long and lace through top of mit­ten. With trim thread embroider cuff of each mitten as illustrated.
