Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" WORSTED FLOSS, Article W 16.

6-1 oz. Balls Blue.
1 pr. each of Bone Knitting Needles No. 1 and No. 3.
Bone Crochet Hook No. 2.
½ yd. Elastic.

Gauge: 7 sts = 1 inch; 10 rows = 1 inch;

PANTS No. 4301

On No. 1 needles cast on 76 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1 inch. Change to No. 3 needles and con­tinue in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row).
Work next 2 rows even.
Next 9 Rows. Increase 1 st at the beginning and end of each row, then work even until work measures 3 inches from beginning.
Next Row. Decrease 1 st at each side. Decrease 1 st each side every ½ inch 6 times, then decrease 1 st each side every inch twice. When work measures 8½ inches from the beginning, ending with P row, K 38, turn, P back, K 28, turn, P back, K 18, turn, P back, K 8, turn, P back, (back of pants), then work across all sts in ribbing for 1½ inches, bind off.
Work other leg to correspond reversing the shaping as follows: P 38, K back, P 28, K back, P 18, K back, P 8, K back, finish same as other leg.
Press each section. Sew front and back seams to crotch. Sew leg seams together.

CASING FOR ELASTIC: Attach yarn at inside of waistband, * ch 5, sl st in next rib ½ inch below, ch 5, sl st in next rib ½ inch above, repeat from * all around, break yarn.

SWEATER No. 4301

BACK: On No. 1 needles, cast on 76 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1½ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern as follows:
1st Row. * K 1, P 1 repeat from * across row.
2nd Row. K across row.
Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 7½ inches from beginning.
Next 2 Rows. Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each row, then decrease 1 st each side of every other row 3 times being careful to keep pattern straight. Continue to work even in pattern for 3¾ inches from first decreasing point ending on right side of work.
Next Row. Bind off the 1st 18 sts, work the next 26 sts and slip on a stitch holder, bind off the remaining 18 sts, break yarn.

FRONT: Work same as back to armhole, shape armhole same as back until work measures 3 inches from 1st decreasing point ending on wrong side of work.
Next Row. K the 1st 18 sts, turn. Work even in pattern on these 18 sts for 7 rows, bind off, break yarn. Slip the next 26 sts on stitch holder for neck.
Work remaining 18 sts in same manner as other side.

SLEEVES: On No. 1 needles cast on 48 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1½ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work 2 rows in pattern.
Next 2 Rows. Increase 1 st each side of each row, then increase 1 st each side every 12th row 4 times. Work even in pattern until work measures 7½ inches from be­ginning.
Next 2 Rows. Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each row.
Next Row. Decrease 1 st each side, then decrease 1 st each side every 3rd row 8 times.
Next 2 Rows. Bind off 8 sts at the beginning of each row, then work even for 2½ inches on the 16 sts ending on wrong side of work.
Slip sts on stitch holder.
Press each section. Sew front and back together. Sew sleeve seams.

NECK BAND: On No. 1 needles, sl 26 sts from back, 16 sleeve sts, pick up 7 sts along side of neck front, the 26 center front sts, pick up 7 sts along other side of neck front and the 16 sleeve sts.
Next Row. K across row, then work in ribbing of K 2. P 2 for 6 rows, bind off loosely and seam. Sew shoulder section of sleeve to the 18 bound off sts of shoulder of front and back, sew remainder of sleeve to armhole.
