This free pattern originally published by Hilde as Clothes for Fashion Model Dolls, Volume 99.

MATERIAL:
1 oz. Fingering Yarn 3 ply
1 pair knitting needles No. 4
5 buttons

GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch

SLACKS:

With No. 4 needles cast on at waistline 22 sts. and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 2 rows. Change to stock. st. and work as follows:

1st row: K 3, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 3.

2nd and all even rows: P back.

3rd row: K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 6, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4.

5th row: Incr. 1 st. in first st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 8, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 4, incr. 1 st. in last st.

7th row: Incr. 1 st. in first st., K 5, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 5, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 10, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 5, incr. 1 st. in next st., K 5, incr. 1 st. in last st. (42 sts.)

Continue to work in stock. st. until the entire piece measures 1 ½ inch.

LEGS: K 21 sts. only and slip rem. 21 sts. to a holder to be worked later. Decr. 1 st. at beg. and end of every 4th row 5 times. Work even until leg measures 4 inch. Bind off loosely. Slip sts. from holder back to needle, connect yarn and finish the other leg to correspond.

FINISHING:

Sew up seams and block to size.

CARDIGAN:

BACK:

Cast on 18 sts. with No. 4 needles and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 2 rows. Change to stock. st. and work even for 14 rows. Bind off for armhole the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts., decr. 1 st. at the beg. of the next 2 rows (12 sts. left). Work even for 1 inch from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 rows 2 sts., rem. 4 sts. bind off for neck.

FRONT:

Cast on 10 sts. with No. 4 needles and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 2 rows. Change to stock. st. and work even for 14 rows. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of next row 2 sts., decr. 1 st. at same edge once (7 sts.). Work even for 2 rows. Bind off 3 sts. at neck edge, work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 2 sts. twice. Work the other Front to correspond, reversing all shaping.

SLEEVE:

Cast on 10 sts. with No. 4 needles and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 2 rows. Incr. 1 st. at beg. and end of last row of ribbing. Change to stock. st. and work even for 2 ½ inch. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until 2 sts. are left. Bind off. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING:

Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Neckband: Right side facing you pick up 20 sts. around the neck and work in ribbing K 1, P 1 for 2 rows. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Sew buttons in place and block to size.
