MATERIAL:
½ oz. Knitting Worsted
1 pair knitting needles No. 4
4 buttons
GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch
PATTERN:
1st row: * K 1, P 1 repeat from * across row.
2nd row: P across row.
Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.
BACK:
Cast on 18 sts. with No. 4 needles and work in pattern for 24 rows. Put a marker at each end of row to mark armhole. Work even for 14 rows. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 rows 3 sts., rem. 6 sts, bind off for neck.
FRONT:
Cast on 11 sts. with No. 4 needles and work in pattern for 24 rows, keeping the 3 center front sts. in garter st. for border. Put a marker at underarm edge to mark armhole. Cont. to work for 14 rows, and at the same time incr. 1 st. at center edge for collar every 4th row 4 times, working the incr. sts. in garter st. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 3 sts. 2 times. Rem. 4 sts. work in garter st. for 4 more rows. Bind off. Work the other Front to correspond.
SLEEVE:
Sew up shoulder seam. With No. 4 needles pick up 14 sts. between markers and work in pattern for 21 rows. Bind off. Work the other sleeve to correspond.
FINISHING:
Sew up side and sleeve seams. Sew back seam of collar and sew collar to neck edge. Pockets: (Make 2.) Cast on 5 sts. with No. 4 needles and work in pattern for 6 rows. Bind off loosely. Sew pockets and buttons in place and block to size.
