Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" DE LUXE FINGERING YARN or "DAWN" NYLON
3 ounces Lt. Oxford or Gray or color of your choice
1 Pr. Knitting Needles No. 2 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW

GAUGE: 7 sts = 1 inch

Cast on 62 sts. Work 2 inches in K 1, P 1 ribbing, then work 6 inches in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row) ending with a P row.
SHAPE HEEL: K 16 (1st half of heel), place remaining sts on st holder. Starting with a P row work in stockinette st for 2½ inches ending with a P row, then turn heel as follows: K 1, sl 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 1, turn; sl 1, P 2, turn; K 2, sl 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 1, turn; sl 1, P 3, turn. Continue in this manner until all sts have been worked (9 sts on needle), pick up and K 1 6 sts on side of heel, place these 25 sts on a holder, K across 30 sts for instep and place these sts on a 2nd holder. Work remaining sts in stockinette st for 2½ inches ending with a K row (2nd half of heel), then turn heel as follows: P 1, P 2 tog, P 1,turn; sl 1, K 2, turn; P 2, P 2 tog, P 1, turn; sl 1, K 3, turn. Continue in this manner until all sts have been worked (9 sts on needle). Pick up and P 1 6 sts on side of heel, sl instep sts from st holder and P across, sl sts of other half of heel off holder and P across (80 sts on needle). SHAPE GUSSET: K 25, K 2 tog, work across 30 instep sts, sl 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K to end of row. P 1 row. Continue to dec at each side of instep every other row until there are 60 sts on needle. Work even for 3¾ inches or 2 inches less than desired length. SHAPE TOE: K 1 2, K 2 tog, K 2, sl 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 24, K 2 tog, K 2, sl 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 12. NEXT ROW: P even. NEXT ROW: K 11, K 2 tog, K 2, sl 1,K 1, p.s.s.o., K 22, K 2 tog, K 2, sl 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 11. NEXT ROW: P across. Continue to dec in same manner until 20 sts remain, P 5 and sl sts on dpn, P 10 and sl sts to another dpn, sl remaining sts on 1st dpn. Weave back and sole sts tog.
TO WEAVE TOE: Thread yarn into yarn needle, * pass needle through 1st st on front needle as if knitting and sl st off needle, pass through 2nd st of same needle as if purling and leave st on needle, pass through 1st st of back needle as if purling and sl st off needle, pass through 2nd st of same needle as if knitting and leave st on needle, repeat from * until all sts are worked off, fasten securely.

PATTERN SOCKS

Work same as Plain 4 needle socks or 2 needle socks working design in duplicate st or knitting design in. Center design on each side and work. In duplicate st repeating pattern as necessary in knitting hte desing, center pattern on each side and work according to chart.
