"DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED
3 ounces White
1 ounce each Watermelon, Peacock, Violet and Black or colors of your choice.
1 Set Double Pointed Knitting Needles No. 8 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW.
1 stitch holder

GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch

CUFF: With White cast on 48 sts, work same as Sport Set Socks but reversing colors for popcorn sts and ending cuff with 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds. NEXT ROUND: K all around dec 12 sts evenly spaced (36 sts on needles). NEXT 2 ROUNDS: K even. NEXT ROUND: Bead­ing: * K 2 tog, y o, repeat from * all around ending with y o (y o counts as 1 st); (36 sts on needles). NEXT 6 ROUNDS: K even. NEXT ROUND: Start gusset. 1st needle: K 12; 2nd needle: K 4, inc 1 st in each of the next 2 sts, K 6; 3rd needle: K across. NEXT ROUND: K even. NEXT ROUND: 1st needle: K 12; 2nd needle, K 4, inc in next st, K 2, inc in next st, K remaining sts of round. Repeat last 2 rounds always having 2 sts more in thumb gusset until there are 50 sts on needles. NEXT ROUND: K 17, place next 15 sts on st holder for thumb, K to end of round. (35 sts on needles). Work even until mit­ten measures ¾ inches less than desired length. NEXT ROUND: * K 2 tog, K 3, repeat from * all around ending with K 3. NEXT ROUND: K even. NEXT ROUND: * K 2 tog, K 2, repeat from * all around ending with K 2. NEXT ROUND: K all around. NEXT ROUND: * K 2 tog, K 1, repeat from * all around ending with K 1, cut yarn leaving a length. Thread into needle and draw sts tightly tog, fasten.
THUMB: Pick up 15 sts from st holder, place on 3 needles, (5, 5, 5). Work even until thumb measures ¼ inch less than desired length. NEXT ROUND: * K 2 tog, K 2, repeat from * all around ending with K 1. NEXT ROUND: K even. NEXT ROUND: * K 2 tog, K 1, repeat from * all around ending with K 2 tog, cut yarn. Complete same as top of mitten. Work other mitten in same manner re­versing thumb.
