Hereafter work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row) for ½ inch. Next row: * K 1, k 2 together, k 3, k 2 together, k 118, k 2 together, k 3, k 2 together, k 1 (130 sts). Work 5 rows straight. Repeat from * 3 more times (118 sts). Work straight until work measures 5½ inches in all. Next row: With right side of work toward you, k 11, p 28, k 40, p 28, k 11 (thus starting blocks which are later to be embroidered). Following row: P 11, k 28, p 40, k 28, p 11. Repeat these last 2 rows alternately, decreasing 1 st at both ends of 10th row. Continue to work in pattern straight until there are 32 ridges on right side of blocks (116 sts). Next row: K 1, increase in next st, k 2, increase in next st, k 39, p 28, k 39, increase in next st, k 2, increase in next st, k 1 (thus starting a block which falls between previous blocks). Following row: P 46, k 28, p 46. Hereafter repeat these last 2 rows alternately, but only increasing 1 st at both ends of every 6th row until there are 128 sts on needle. Work straight until block measures same as previous blocks (32 ridges on right side of work). On next row k 16, p 28, k 40, p 28, k 16 (thus starting 2 blocks, directly above the 1st 2 blocks). Continue to work in pattern as before, increasing 1 st at both ends of every 6th row, 5 times (138 sts). When these two blocks are completed, work 4 rows of another block in center of these last 2 blocks as before.

To Shape Armholes: Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Then decrease 1 st at end of each row until 112 sts remain. Work in pattern straight until block is completed. Next row: K 8, p 28, k 40, p 28, k 8. Continue in block pattern until there are 28 ridges completed on right side of block. 29th row: K 8, p 28, k 8, bind off 24 sts (thus starting neck shaping), k 8, p 28, k 8. Hereafter work over these 44 sts, decreasing 1 st at neck edge every row until block is completed. To shape shoulder, work in stockinette st, binding off 6 sts at armhole edge every other row, continuing with decreases at neck edge until 8 sts have been decreased at neck edge, and all sts are worked off. Attach thread to opposite side of neck edge and work other side to correspond.

Back. Start and work as for front, but without block pattern until work measures 3½ inches from 1st row of armholes shaping. On next row k across 1st 56 sts, turn (thus starting back opening). Work over these 56 sts for 3 inches. To shape shoulder, bind off 6 sts at armhole edge every other row until 20 sts remain. Bind off. Attach thread to base of opening and work other side to correspond.

Work straight until work measures 6 inches. To shape top of sleeve, bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Now decrease 1 st at both ends of next 4 rows, then every 3rd row until 66 sts remain. Decrease 1 st at end of each row until 42 sts remain, and 1 st at both ends of every row until 30 sts remain. Bind off. Sew up underarm and shoulder seams. Sew up sleeve seams and sew sleeves in. With contrasting color work a row of outline stitch around blocks. Then fill in each block with daisies worked in loop stitch (see stitch detail). Work 3 rows of outline stitch around lower edge of blouse ½ inch apart from each other. Make 2 rows of outline stitch around lower edges of sleeve in the same way. With contrasting color work a row of s c around neck edge and along both sides of opening, making a ch-6 buttonloop at top of opening on right side. Work a row of outline stitch at base of s c around neck edge only. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonloops.
