Scarlet—3 1-oz. Balls; Natural—3 1-oz. Balls Green—2 1-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 3 Needles and scarlet cast on 121 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 in., then work in stockinette st until piece measures 4 in. from lower edge. Change to Natural and work 1 in., then continue with natural, change to No. 2 Needles and work even until piece measures 8 in. from lower edge. Change to green and work even until piece measures 11 in. from lower edge. Change to No. 3 Needles and work even until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Change to scarlet and work even until piece measures 16 in. from lower edge. Change to natural and bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times. Work even until piece measures 4 in. from underarm. Change to green and work even until piece measures 6½ in. from under­arm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 4½ in. from underarm. Work over 34 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 25 sts for front of neck. On remaining 34 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of gar­ment, pick up 81 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles and scarlet cast on 85 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 1 in. Change to No. 3 Needles and work even in stockinette st until piece measures 4 in. from lower edge. Change to natural and bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 7 times, then every 4th row 5 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until piece measures 4 in. from underarm. Change to green and continue binding off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 19 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts. Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
