Natural—4 2-oz. Balls; Green—2 2-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles and natural cast on 99 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 119 sts. Work in pattern as given on chart A, being sure to twist yarn when changing colors, until piece meas­ures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows, then 8 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows for shoulders! Change to No. 2 Needles and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 4½ in. from underarm. At this point you will have reached the red out­line for neck opening. Work over 38 sts, place on st-holder. Bind off next 21 sts for front of neck. On remaining 38 sts, work 1 row even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 2 times, then 8 sts every other row 2 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles and natural, on right side of garment, pick up 69 sts from end to end of neckband. Work m ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles and natural cast on 79 sts. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. P 1 row, then work in pattern as given on Pattern B until piece measures 5¼ in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times, then every 4th row 4 times.  Bind off 2 sts at be­ginning of every row until 23 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts. Sew sleeve seams. Sew shoulder and underarm seams. Sew sleeves in place.
