Goldilocks (and her Mother) have decided up on a tour of the U.S.A. (which is really the thing to do this season) so she wears a Princess line dress, just like her mother's, to go shopping for the yearn for the rest of her wardrobe. Princess dress has a Sailor collar with a red, white and blue trim and a Beanie to match. The dress fastens with tiny buttons up the front and will be just the thing to wear on the train when she makes up her mind JUST where she is going.

Needles—1 pair No. 3 bone.
Material—1 two-ounce ball Sport yarn, 5 small pearl buttons.
Gauge—7 sts to 1 inch.

DRESS

   Back—Cast on 50 sts, K 3 rows. Next row, P 16, K 1, P 16, K 1, P 16. K back. Repeat these 2 rows for 7 more rows. Next K row, K 2 tog, K 10, K 2 tog, K 5, K 2 tog, K 8, K 2 tog, K 5, K 2 tog, K 10. K 2 tog. Work 3 rows even. Make 4 more decreased rows, every 4th row (20 sts), having decreases come directly above those of previous row. Work 3 rows even, inc 1 st at each end. Work even until piece measures 4 inches from beginning. Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Work even for 1¼ inches (12 rows). Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 4 rows, bind off remaining 10 sts for back of neck.
   Right Front—Cast on 26 sts, K 3 rows. Next row, P 12, K 1, P 10, K 3 (border). K back. P 1 row, K 1 row for 7 rows, always keeping last 3 sts K on purled rows, for border. Make decreases as follows: K 9, K 2 tog, K 5, K 2 tog, K 6, K 2 tog. Work 3 rows even. Make decreases in same manner 3 more times, having decreases come directly above those of previous rows. (14 sts). Work even until piece measures 3 inches from beginning. Inc 1 st at seam end. Work 1 inch even. Bind off 2 sts at underarm. Discontinue to K 1 st on Purled side. Work even for 12 rows. Bind off 4 sts at neck edge, K 2 tog at beg and end of every row at neck edge until you have 7 sts. Bind off 2 sts at beg of the next 2 rows at shoulder and continue to K 2 tog at beg and end at neck edge. Work left front to correspond. Sew shoulder seams.
   Collar—Skip 2 sts, on wrong side, with white yarn, pick up 31 sts around neck to within 2 sts on other side. K 2, P back, K last 2 sts. Next row, * K 2, inc 1 st, repeat from * across row. K 1 row, P 1 row, always knitting first and last 2 sts on purled rows for border, for 4 rows, K 3 rows, bind off loosely.
   Sleeves—Pick up 14 center sts, P back. Pick up 2 sts, K 1 row, P 1 row picking up 2 sts, at end of every row, until all sts are picked up (26 sts), P back. K 1 row, P 1 row. On next row, dec 7 sts spaced at equal distances apart, K 3 rows, bind off. Overcast collar with red, break thread. With blue begin at end of red and overcast in same manner. Sew on 5 tiny pearl buttons, buttons are pushed thru border on right side for buttonholes. Sew up side seams and sleeves.

PANTIES

   Cast on 24 sts, K 1, P 1 for 4 rows. K 1 row increasing 5 sts, P 1 row, K 1 row for 1½ inches. Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 6 rows. On center 5 sts, K 1 row, P 1 row for 6 rows. Cast on 4 sts at beginning of the next 6 rows (29 sts). K 1 row, P 1 row, for 1½ inches. Dec 5 sts, K 1, P 1 for 4 rows, bind off. Sew up panties. With embroidering needle tape yarn thru top of panties and tie. S c around pantie legs.

DOLL BERET

   Ch 4, join, work 6 s c in ring, work 2 s c in each st, until you have 21 sts. Inc in every 7th st, until you have 49 sts. Work even until you have 13 rows. Work 1 row with white, one row with red, one row with white. Pin to wig of Doll.
