SIZES

10 to 11 ½ (length, 11 ½ inches).

MATERIALS

Three-ply fingering yarn: 2 ounces beige; 1 ounce each bright blue, rust, yellow, and light blue.
Knitting needles: 1 pair No. 1; 1 set (4) double-pointed needles, No. 1.

GAUGE

9 stitches = 1 inch.

With beige yarn and single-pointed needles, cast on 80 stitches. Work in ribbing of knit 1, purl 1 for 3 inches. Work in pattern as follows: 1st row: Attach bright blue, * knit 1 bright blue, knit 7 beige. Repeat from * across. 2nd row: Purl 1 bright blue, * purl 2 beige, purl 1 bright blue, purl 2 beige, purl 3 bright blue. Repeat from * across, ending with purl 2 beige, purl 1 bright blue, purl 2 beige, purl 2 bright blue.

Starting with 3rd row, and breaking off and adding colors as necessary, follow chart until 20th row has been completed. Repeat these 20 rows twice more. Break off yarns. Next row: Slip first 20 stitches on a stitch holder, rejoin beige and bright blue and work in pattern across next 40 stitches, turn. Place remaining 20 stitches on another stitch holder.

INSTEP

Continue in pattern on center 40 stitches for 39 more rows. Break off yarns and slip stitches on a stitch holder.
