MATERIALS

BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 10 White, 4 each Black, Peach Blossom and Scarlet, 2 Almond Green

1 pair straight knitting needles No. 10 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

1 aluminum crochet hook No. 5

GAUGE: 9 sts = 2 inches; 8 rows = 1 inch

DIAMOND: Make 32 White, 13 Black, 12 Peach Blossom, 6 Almond Green and 14 Scarlet. Cast on 3 sts. Row 1: Knit. Row 2: Inc 1 st in first st, K 1, inc 1 st in last st. Rows 3, 4 and 5: Knit. Row 6: K 1, inc 1 st in next st, K to last 2 sts, inc 1 st in next st, K 1. Repeat Rows 3 through 6 until there are 29 sts, ending with Row 6. K the next row. DEC ROW: K 1, K 2 tog, K to last 3 sts, K 2 tog, K 1. K 3 rows even. Repeat these last 4 rows until 5 sts remain, ending with a dec row. K 3 rows. On the next row K 2 tog, K 1, K 2 tog. Bind off remaining 3 sts.

FINISHING: Following chart for color placement, sew diamonds tog. Using matching yarn, work 1 row s c around entire afghan, working 3 s c in point of each dia­mond. Block.
