Knitted  Baby Set #207 Pattern

REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 5-ounce of 3-ply sport yarn or Baby Yarn.
NEEDLES: 1-pr. #1 Single Pointed Needles; 1-pr. Single Pointed Needles.
Angora for Trimming.
CROCHET HOOK: 1-#1 bone hook.

PATTERN:
ROW 1: Knit all across row.
ROW 2: Purl all across row.
ROW 3: Knit 1, * yarn over, slip 1, k 3, pass slip st over the 3 knit sts; repeat from * across row, ending with k 1.
ROW 4: Purl across row. Repeat these 4 rows for the pattern.

BACK: With the #3 needles cast on 74 sts and work in the pattern until the piece measures 6½ inches in all. From now on work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for the remainder of the yoke. UNDERARM: Bind off 2 sts at each side of the work. Decrease one stitch at each side of the work every other row twice. Then work in ribbing until the armhole measures 3½ inches above the underarm. Bind off all sts in ribbing.

FRONT: Cast on 38 sts and work in the pattern until the piece measures 6½ inches in all. From now on work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for the remainder of the yoke. UNDERARM: At one side of the work bind off 2 sts once; decrease 1 stitch at the same side every other row twice. Then work even in the ribbing until the armhole measures 2¾ inches above the underarm, ending at the neck edge. NECK SHAPING: At the neck edge bind off 10 sts once; decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every other row 5 times. Bind off all sts.

Make the 2nd front the same way up to the underarm. Do the bind offs and decreases at the opposite sides.

SLEEVES: With the #1 needles cast on 40 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1¾ inches. On the last row increase 1 stitch in every 4th st across the row. (50 sts). Now change to the #3 needles and work in the pat­tern until the sleeve measures 5 inches above the ribbing, ending with Row 4. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every row twice. Bind off all sts on the next row. MAKE THE OTHER SLEEVE THE SAME WAY.

FINISHING: Sew the sides together; shoulders and sleeves up and into the armhole matching the underarm seams. Using a #1 bone crochet hook, tie yarn at the corner of the front and work in s c along the front edge, keeping the work flat; s c in each st around the neck; s c down the front, and 1 s c into each st along the bottom. Break yarn. Tie in angora; work in s c up to the yoke; * Ch 3 sts; skip 2 sts; 1 s c in next 4 sts; repeat from * to corner of neck edge. Then finish around the rest of the sweater in s c in every stitch.

BONNET: Using the #3 needles cast on 74 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1½ inches. Then change to the pattern and work until the piece measures 4½ inches from the ribbing, ending with row 4. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 6 rows. Knit 2 sts together across row. Now work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 5 more rows. Knit 2 sts together across row. Break yarn, leaving 10 inches. Thread a darning needle and draw thru the remaining sts and fasten tightly on the wrong side. Sew the ribbing to form a circle and one inch beyond. Fold back the ribbing for turnback on bonnet and sew down along the side. Pick up and knit 58 sts around the neck and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 5 rows. Bind off all sts.

BOOTIES: Using the #3 needles cast on 38 sts and work in the pattern for 2¾ inches, ending with row 4. INSTEP: K 13 sts, place these sts on a st holder; k 12 sts and leave on the needle; place the remaining sts onto a 2nd st holder. Work on these 12 sts for 19 rows in knit every row. Break the yarn. Place the sts off the first st holder back onto a free needle; tie yarn at first stitch; pick up and knit 10 sts along side of instep, knit the 12 sts; pick up and knit 10 sts along 2nd side of instep; knit the 13 sts off the 2nd st holder. (58 sts). Knit 5 rows. 1st dec: K 2 tog, k 19, k 2 tog, k 12, k 2 tog, k 19, k 2 tog. Knit 3 rows. 2nd dec: K 2 tog, k 17, k 2 tog, k 12, k 2 tog, k 17, k 2 tog. K 2 rows. Bind off all sts. Sew up the back and sole of bootie. S c around the top of the bootie with angora. MAKE THE OTHER BOOTIE THE SAME WAY.
