Repeat last 2 rows alternately until piece measures 7 inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. Bind off.

FRONT … Work exactly as for Back until piece measures 10 inches in all, ending with a p row. Then work in pattern as follows: 1st row: K 54, p 2, then make a cable—to make a cable, slip next 4 sts onto a stitch holder; keeping stitch holder at back of work k next 4 sts; then k 4 sts on stitch holder; p 2, k 54. 2nd row: P 54, k 2, p 8, k 2, p 54. 3rd row: K 54, p 2, k 8, p 2, k 54. 4th and 5th rows: Repeat 2nd and 1st rows. 6th to 16th rows incl: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately. Work in this manner until piece measures 12 inches; then shape armholes as for armholes of Back and work until piece measures 5¾ inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. Then work as follows:
1st row: Work in pattern across 1st 15 sts; (k 2, p 2) 15 times; k 2, continue over remaining 15 sts in pattern. Hereafter work the 62 sts in center of needle in ribbing, keeping 15 sts at both ends in pattern until piece measures 7 inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. Bind off.

SLEEVES … Starting at bottom, with No. 1 needles cast on 68 sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 1¼ inches. Change to No. 3 needles and work in pattern as follows: 1st row: K 15, p 2; (k 8, p 2, k 1, p 2) twice; k 8, p 2, k 15. 2nd row: P 15, k 2; (p 8, k 2, p 1, k 2) twice; p 8, k 2, p 15. 3rd to 12th rows incl: Repeat 1st and 2nd rows alternately, increasing 1 st at both ends of every other row. Next row: Work in stockinette st to k-1 incl. of center cable; continue in pattern over cable to within k-1 at opposite side of center cable; k to end of row. Continue center cable until another small cable is made, keeping both sides in stockinette st but, when piece measures 4½ inches, shape top of sleeve as follows: Dec. 1 st at both ends of next row and every 3rd row thereafter until 70 sts remain. When 3rd small cable is completed, change all sts to stockinette st and continue with decreases. Now dec. 1 st at end of each row until 34 sts remain. Bind off.
