Little Girl Blue Dress Pattern

SIZES 3 (4).

NOTE—Underline or circle the num­bers applying to the size desired. The first number in each group is for size 3, the second for size 4.

MATERIALS—SPINNERIN BABY WOOL For Boy's Suit No. 2092-B—6 (7) balls; 6 buttons. For Girl's Jumper No. 2092-S—5 (6) balls; small amount of yarn in contrasting color for flowers. 1 pair Knitting Needles No. 4; 1 pair Knitting Needles No. 2; 1 steel Crochet Hook No. 1.

GAUGE—6½ sts. = 1 inch. 9 rows = 1 inch. Accurate gauge is essential.

PATTERN—Multiple of 9. Row 1—(Right side) P4, *K1, P8, repeat from * across row ending with P4. Row 2—K4, *P1, K8, repeat from * across row ending with K4. Rows 3, 5, 7—Same as Row 1. Rows 2, 4, 6—Same as Row 2. When working Size 4, start pattern with P6 instead of P4 and end with P6 instead of P4.

GIRL'S SUIT No. 2092-S

MEASUREMENTS—Bottom to waist 10¾ (11¼) inches; bottom to shoulder 17 (18) inches.

BACK—Using No. 4 needles, cast on 153 (157) sts. Work even in pattern for 2½ (3) inches. Dec. 1 st. each end of needle. Repeat this dec. every ½ inch, 14 times more; (123 (127) sts.). When work measures 10 (10½) inches from start, work a dec. row as follows: *K2 tog., K1, K2 tog., repeat from * across row; (75 (77) sts.). Change to No. 2 needles, dec. 1 st., work in ribbing of K1, P1 for 1¼ inches. Change to No. 4 needles. For Size 3 only: Dec. 1 st. each end of needle (72 sts.). Work even in pattern until work measures 1¼ (1½) inches above ribbing. At the beg. of each of the next 2 rows, bind off 5 (6) sts. Dec. 1 st. each end of every other row, twice; (58 (60) sts.). Work even until back measures 5 (5½) inches straight up above ribbing. Work first 20 sts. in pattern and place on holder for left front. Bind off center 18 (20) sts. On last 20 sts. work back and forth, dec. 1 st. at neck edge every other row twice. At arm edge, bind off 6 sts. 3 times. Work other shoulder to correspond.

FRONT—Work same as back to armholes; (72 (76) sts.). With right side of work toward you, bind off 6 (7) sts., work in pattern until there are 28 (29) sts. on needle, bind off next 4 sts., and finish row in pattern. Turn, bind off 6 (7) sts. Now work back and forth in pattern on the 28 (29) sts. of right shoulder, dec. 1 st. at neck edge every row 6 times and AT THE SAME TIME, dec. 1 st. at arm edge every other row 4 (5) times. Work even on remaining 18 sts. until front measures same as back to shoulder. At beg. of arm edge, bind off 6 sts., every other row 3 times. Work left shoulder to correspond.

FINISHING—Sew shoulder and side seams. Work 2 rows of S. C. around neck, armholes and bottom of skirt.

FLOWERS—Using light yarn, ch. 4 and join to form ring. Ch. 1, * work 1 S. C., 1 H. D. C., 2 D. C., 1 H. D. C., 1 S. C., all in ring, repeat from * 3 times more. Join with a slip st. in top of ch. 1. Fasten off. Center: Using contrasting yarn, fasten yarn through original ring in center of a petal. Ch. 3 and join to opposite side of ring with slip st. Turn, ch. 1, work 1 S. C., 1 H. D. C., 2 D. C., 1 H. D. C., 1 S. C. all over the ch. 3. Fasten off. Tack flowers in place as shown in illustration.
