MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 4(5-5-6) skeins and small amount of Contrasting Color (CC)
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 18(20-22-24) ozs and small amount of Contrasting Color (CC)

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 8 and 1 "Boye" Circular Needle Size 4-24 inch

Gauge: Pattern Stitch on Size 8 needles - 5 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With MC and Size 4 circular needle cast on 91(95-99-103) sts. Work back and forth in ribbing as follows: Row 1: K 1, * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across. Row 2: P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows for 2 inches, ending with Row 1. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 6(2-4-6), * P 1, K 5, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then K 6(2-4-6). Row 2: P 6(2-4-6), * K 1, P 5, repeat from * across, ending K 1, then P 6(2-4-6). Repeat these 2 rows for pat until back measures 14(14-14½-14½) inches or desired length to underarm. Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 4(4-5-6) times - 73(77-79-81) sts on needle. Work until armholes measure 8(8½-8½-9) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm. Shoulders: Bind off 8(9-9-9) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 7(7-8-9) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Sl rem'ing 27 sts onto st holder for back of neck.

POCKET LININGS - Make 2: With MC and Size 8 needles cast on 19 sts. Work in St St for 4 inches, end­ing on wrong side of work. Sl sts on a st holder.

LEFT FRONT: With MC and Size 4 circular needle cast on 46(48-50-52) sts. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 2 inches, inc'ing 1 st at end of last row on Size 20 only - 46(48-50-53) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: K 3(5-1-4), P 1, * K 5, P 1, repeat from * across. Row 2: * K 1, P 5, repeat from * across, end­ing K 1, then P 3(5-1-4). Repeat these 2 rows until front measures 4½ inches from start, ending on right side. Pocket: Work 33(35-37-40) sts, sl last 19 sts onto st holder, work to end of row. On next row work across to pocket opening, work in pat across one pocket lining, work to end of row. Work until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole and Neck: Bind off 7 sts at side edge. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 5(5-6-8) times AND AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at front edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every 4th row 10 times more. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Bind off 8(9-9-9) sts at armhole edge twice, 7(7- 8-9) sts at same edge once.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to Left Front, reversing the shaping and starting pat above ribbing as follows: On right side of work * P 1, K 5, repeat from * across, ending P 1, K 3(5-1-4).

SLEEVES: With MC and Size 4 needle cast on 44(46-48-50) sts. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 2 inches, inc'ing 1 st at end of last row - 45(47-49-51) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and start pat as follows: On right side, K 1(2-3-4), * P 1, K 5, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then K 1(2-3-4). Continue in pat, inc'ing 1 st each side every 6th row 11 times - 67(69-71-73) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 17(17-17½-17½) inches or desired length. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st each side every other row 8(9-9-9) times, then bind off 2 sts at beg of next 12 rows. Bind off rem'ing 15(15-17-19) sts.

POCKET BORDERS AND FACINGS: With wrong side facing, sl sts of pocket onto Size 8 needle. Join CC and work in St St for 5 rows. K next P row for turn of hem, then work 5 more rows in St St. Bind off.

Sew shoulder seams.

FRONT BORDERS AND COLLAR: With MC and Size 4 circular needle, starting at lower right front edge, pick up and K as follows: 68(68-69-69) sts to start of neck, 49(51-52-54) on neck to shoulder, K 27 sts from st holder across back of neck, 117(119-121-123) sts to lower edge - 261(265-269-273) sts on needle. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 3 rows. Work 5 buttonholes as follows: Work 4(4-5-5) sts, * bind off next 4 sts, work 11 sts in ribbing, repeat from * 3 times more, bind off next 4 sts, work ribbing to end. Next row cast on 4 sts over bound-off sts. Work 1 more row. First Short Row: Work ribbing over 194(198-200-206) sts. Row 2: Turn, sl 1, work ribbing on next 128(132-132-138) sts. Row 3: Turn, sl 1, work ribbing on next 123(127-127-133) sts. Continue to work 5 sts less each row for 3(5-5-9) more rows, then 4 sts less each row for 22(20-20-16) rows - 21(23-23-25) sts left at center for back of neck. Turn, sl 1, work ribbing to end of row. Bind off in ribbing.

Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm and sleeve seams. Turn under pocket facings and sew to wrong side. Face each front border with grosgrain ribbon, working around buttonholes.
