MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - 4 (4-5-5) skeins
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - 16(18-20-22) ozs

Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 5 and 9, 1 "Boye" cable needle and 1 set "Boye" double point needles Size 5

Gauge: Stockinette Stitch on Size 9 needles - 4½ sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch

BACK: With Size 5 needles cast on 79(83-89-93) sts. Row 1 - Right side: K 1, * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across. Row 2: P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows for 2½ inches, ending with Row 2. Change to Size 9 needles and work in pat as fol­lows: Row 1 - Right side: * K 2, P 1, repeat from * 5(5-6-6) times more, sl next 5 sts onto cable needle and hold in back, K next 5 sts, then K the 5 sts from cable needle for cable twist, P 1, K 21(25-25-29), P 1, twist cable on next 10 sts, ** P 1, K 2, repeat from ** to end of row. Row 2: * P 2, K 1, repeat from * 5(5-6- 6) times more, P 10, K 1, P 21(25-25-29), K 1, P 10, ** K 1, P 2, repeat from ** to end of row. Row 3: Work in ribbing of K 2, P 1 for 18(18-21-21) sts, K 10, P 1, K 21(25-25-29), P 1, K 10, then work in ribbing of P 1, K 2 to end of row. Row 4: Same as Row 2. Rows 5 through 14: Repeat Rows 3 and 4. Repeat these 14 rows for pat. Work until back measures 13(13-13½-3½) inches or desired length from start. Armholes: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 3 times - 63(67-73-77) sts on needle. Work until armholes measure 8(8½-8½-9) inches straight above bound-off sts at under­arm. Shoulders: Bind off 10(10-12-12) sts at beg of next 2(2-4-4) rows, then on Sizes 12 and 14 only bind off 11 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Sl rem'ing 21(25-25-29) sts onto st holder for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back until armholes measure about 5¾(6¼-6½-6¾) inches straight above bound-off sts at underarm - 63(67-73-77) sts on needle. Neck: Work across 24(25-28-29) sts and sl rem'ing sts onto st holder. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 3(4-4-5) times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Bind off 10(10-12-12) sts at armhole edge 1(1-2-2) times, then on Sizes 12 and 14 only bind off 11 sts once. Leaving center 15(17-17-19) sts on holder, work other side to correspond.

SLEEVES: With Size 5 needles cast on 42(42-46-46) sts. Work in K 1, P 1 ribbing for 2½ inches, inc'ing 1(1-3-3) sts on last row, ending on wrong side of work - 43(43-49-49) sts on needle. Change to Size 9 needles and work in pat as follows: Row 1 - Right side: P 1, * K 2, P 1, repeat from * across. Row 2: K 1, * P 2, K 1, repeat from * across. Repeat these 2 rows for pat, inc'ing 1 st each side every 10th row 7(3-7-3) times, keeping added sts in pat. On Sizes 14 and 18 only inc 1 st each side every 8th row 5 times more - 57(59-63-65) sts on needle. Work until sleeve measures 17(17-17½-17½) inches or desired length from start to underarm. Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row until 21(19-25-23) sts rem. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4(2-4-2) rows, then bind off rem'ing 13(15-17-19) sts.

Sew shoulder seams.

TURTLE NECK: With Size 5 double point needles, on right side of work K across sts on holders, picking up and K 17 sts on each side of neck - 70(76-76-82) sts on needle. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 2½ inches. Bind off very loosely in ribbing.

Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm and sleeve seams.
