Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED OR "DAWN" KNITTING WOOL
6 1¼-oz. skeins White or Colors.
1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3.
5 Buttons.
Measurements–Length from shoulder 16 inches.
Width all around underarm 24 inches.
Length of sleeve at underarm 8½ inches.
Gauge–6 st = 1 inch.
LEFT FRONT. Cast on 40 sts and work in garter st (K each row) for 1½ inches. Continue in stockinette st working the 10 sts at front edge in garter st for border.
Work even until work measures 4 inches from the beginning.
Next Row–Work buttonhole. K to the last 10 sts, K 4, yarn over, K 2 together, K 4. Continuing garter st border and working a buttonhole every 2½ inches, work until front measures 12½ inches from beginning ending with P row.
Next Row–Bind off 3 sts for armhole then decrease one st every other row 4 times and work 10 rows even. After the last buttonhole is made work 2 rows even.
Next Row–Bind off 10 sts at neck edge then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row until 18 sts remain. Work 2 rows even.
Bind off 9 sts at armhole edge every other row.
RIGHT FRONT. Work same as left front, reversing the border and armhole shaping and omitting the buttonholes.
BACK. Cast on 67 sts and work border same as fronts. Continue even in stockinette st until back measures 12½ inches from the beginning.
Next 2 Rows–Bind off 3 sts at the beginning of each row then decrease 1 st each side every other row until 53 sts remain. Work even until armhole measures same as on fronts.
Bind off 9 sts at the beginning of next 4 rows, and bind off remaining sts for back of neck.
SLEEVES. Cast on 20 sts and continue in stockinette st casting on 2 sts at end of every row until there are 48 sts on needle then decrease 1 st at each end of every 7th row until 36 sts remain. Work even until sleeve measures 8 inches from the beginning. Next Row–Decrease after every 6th st and work 10 rows even then work 8 rows in garter st, and bind off.
COLLAR. Work same as collar of Girl's Coat.
