Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED OR
"DAWN" KNITTING WOOL
11 1¼-oz. Skeins White or Colors.
1 pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3.
1 pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 5.
Measurements
Width all around at underarms 24 inches.
Length from shoulder to center waistband 8½ inches.
Length from neck to crotch 19 inches.
Leg seam (including cuff) 16 inches.
Length of sleeve (including cuff) 10½ inches.
UPPER SECTION. On large needles cast on 128 sts for the waistline, work in stockinette st (K 1, P 1 row). Work even for 4 inches ending with a purl row.
Next Row–Knit the 1st 31 sts and slip them on a thread (front) K the next 66 sts (back) and slip remaining 31 sts on a second thread. Continue working on back.
Next 2 Rows–Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of each row then decrease one st each side of every other row 3 times (8 sts decreased each side). Work even for 23 rows.
Next 4 Rows–Bind off 8 sts at the beginning of each row and bind off remaining sts for back of neck.
Pick up the left front sts, decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 3 times. Work 20 rows even.
Next Row–Bind off 8 sts at neck edge then bind off 2 sts at neck edge every other row twice keeping the armhole edge even.
Bind off 8 sts from armhole edge every other row twice. Work other front to correspond.
SLEEVES. On fine needles cast on 40 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 18 rows. K the next row increasing in every 3rd st (53 sts). Change to large needles and continue in stockinette st for 8 inches.
Next 2 Rows–Bind off 3 sts at the beginning of each row then bind off 2 sts at the beginning of each row until 16 sts remain, bind off and work other sleeve to correspond.
COLLAR. On fine needles cast on 74 sts.
1st Row–K 2, * P 1, K 2, repeat from. * to end of row.
2nd Row–P 2, * K 1, P 2, repeat from * to end of row.
Next Row–Increase in every Purl st then work 14 rows of K 2, P 2 and bind off, Knitting the K sts and Purling the Purled sts.
PANTS. On fine needles cast on 40 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 20 rows. K next row increasing in every other st (60 sts). Change to large needles and continue in stockinette st for 5 inches. * Next row increase 1 st each side and work 3 rows even, repeat from * until 10 increases have been made.
Next 2 Rows–Cast on 3 sts at the beginning of each row and work 3 rows even.
Next Row–Decrease 1 st at each end then decrease 1 st at each end every 4th row until there are 10 decreases at each side then decrease every 6th row twice. Work 4 rows even ending with a purled row.
Next Row–Start shaping the back. K the 1st 30 sts, turn, sl the 1st st, Purl back, K 22 sts, turn, slip the 1st st, Purl back, K 14 sts, turn, sl the 1st st, Purl back, K 6, turn, sl the 1st st Purl back. K 1 row and P 1 row on all sts, bind off and work other leg to correspond placing the shaping on opposite side.
Sew leg seams. Sew back of pants together with seams meeting at crotch and continue seam for about 3½ inches, fasten off.
Sew seams of upper part, sew sleeves in position and attach collar. Sew the 2 sections together neatly.
Work a row of s c on front edges. Work a second row of s c on left edge. On right front work 5 buttonholes of ch 1 and work a 3rd row of s c on both sides.
BELT. On fine needles cast on 10 sts and work in stockinette st for 24 inches then make buttonhole as follows–K 4 sts, bind off 2 sts, K 4. Next Row–P 4, cast on 2 sts, P 4. Work 18 rows and work a second buttonhole. Decrease 1 st at each side every other row until 2 sts remain, bind off. Press lightly and work a row of sl sts all around belt. Line belt with any suitable material and finish with buttons.
Work 2 belt straps of ch 12 fasten off and attach to each side at waistline.
CAP FOR SNOW SUIT 2022
EAR TAB. Cast on 3 sts and work in garter st (K each row). Increase 1 st each side in 2nd row then increase at each end every 6th row until there are 15 sts on needle and K 5 rows even, break yarn, keep tab on needle and work a 2nd tab to correspond, both tabs are on one needle in last row, do not break yarn, cast on 12 sts, * K 2, P 2, repeat from * 3 times, K across the 15 tab sts, cast on 22 sts, K across the first tab, cast on 12 sts.
Next Row–* K 2, P 2, repeat from * 3 times, K the next 15 sts, K 2, P 2 on the next 22 sts, K the next 15 sts, K 2, P 2 on remaining sts. Repeat last row until ribbed section measures 1¼ inches. Increase 2 sts and work the remainder of cap in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row). Work even for 3 inches ending with P row.
Next Row–Start shaping cap, * K 5, K 2 together repeat from * across row ending with K 1. Next and every Purl row work even.
3rd Row–* K 4, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
5th Row–* K 3, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
7th Row–* K 2, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
9th Row–* K 1, K 2 together, repeat from * ending with K 1.
11th Row–K 2 together across row.
12th Row–Purl across row, break yarn leaving an end for sewing, thread into needle, slip remaining sts on needle, draw up and fasten securely.
Press cap under a damp cloth and sew back seam.
Work a row of s c around right ear tab. Around left ear tab work s c to point, ch 5, s c in same space (loop for button), work s c around remainder of tab.
Sew button to correspond with buttonhole.
MITTENS FOR SNOW SUIT 2022
On No. 3 needles cast on 40 sts, work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 4 inches. Next Row–Change to No. 5 needles, K 12, increase in next st, K 13, increase in next st, K to end of row. (42 sts.) Continue in stockinette st (P 1 row, K 1 row).
Work 7 rows ending with a Purl row.
Next Row–K 12 sts and slip them on a st holder to be held for the thumb. On remaining sts work 12 rows ending with a Purl row.
Next Row–Start decreasing. * K 3, K 2 together, repeat from * to end of row. Purl 1 row.
3rd Row–* K 2, K 2 together, repeat from * to end of row and Purl 1 row.
5th Row–* K 1, K 2 together, repeat from * to end of row and Purl 1 row.
7th Row–K 2 together to end of row, break yarn leaving an end for sewing; thread this into a large needle and draw through remaining sts twice and leave end for sewing after thumb is completed.
Slip the thumb sts on needle and work 7 rows.
Next Row–K 2 together across row, break yarn leaving an end, thread into a needle and draw through remaining sts twice, tighten yarn and sew thumb together, then sew mitten together.
When dividing sts for thumb on second mitten work to within the last 12 sts and work same as first mitten.
