Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED OR "DAWN" KNITTING WOOL
10 1¼-oz. Skeins White.
1 2-oz. Skein Pink or Blue.
1 Pr. Knitting Needles Size 6.
1 Bone Crochet Hook Size 3 or 4.
3 Yds. Ribbon for Bow.

PATTERN. A multiple of 3 plus 1.
1st Row–K across row.
2nd Row–K 1, * yarn over, K 3, pass the first st knitted over the 2nd and 3rd st, repeat from * across row.
3rd Row–K across row.
4th Row–* K 3, pass the first st knitted over the 2nd and 3rd st, yarn over, repeat from * ending with K 1.

Cast on 127 sts and work in pattern until work measures 31 inches or length desired, bind off.
Join White yarn at one side and work 1 row of d c, taking care to keep work flat and working 3 d c in each corner. Then work 1 row of d c in Color, 1 row in White and 1 row in Color.
Finish Cover with ribbon bow as illustrated.

BABY JACKET 2009

6 Months to 1 Year

Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" SAXONY TYPE YARN OR "DAWN" BABY YARN
5 ¾-oz. Balls White or Baby Colors.
1 ¾-oz. Ball of contrasting color.
1  Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3 and 1 Pr. Knitting Needles No. 1.
2  yds. of ¾ in. ribbon for cap and 2 yds. narrow ribbon for booties and mittens.
6 small buttons.

Gauge–8 sts = 1 inch. 10 rows = 1 inch.

PATTERN. A multiple of 3 plus 1.
1st Row–K across row.
2nd Row–K 1 * yarn over, K 3, pass the 1st knitted st over the 2nd and 3rd st, repeat from * across row.
3rd Row–K across row.
4th Row–* K 3, pass the 1st knitted st over the 2nd and 3rd st, yarn over, repeat from * ending row with K 1.

BACK. Cast on 76 sts, K 10 rows then work in pattern until back measures 10 inches, bind off.
FRONT. Cast on 42 sts, K 10 rows and continue in pattern knitting the 6 sts on front edge in every row. When work measures 1½ inches work a buttonhole (K 2, bind off 2 sts, K 2).
On Next Row–Cast on 2 sts over the bound off sts. Continue work spacing the buttonholes 1¼ inches apart to neck.
When front measures 9 inches bind off 10 sts at neck edge then decrease one st at neck edge every other row 4 times. When work measures 10 inches bind off.
Work other front to correspond omitting the buttonholes. Sew shoulder seams.
Place a marker 3½ inches from shoulder seam of front and back, pick up 27 sts on each side and work sleeves in stockinette st. When sleeve measures 3½ inches decrease 1 st each side every inch 4 times.
Next Row–On center 16 sts K 2 together 8 times and work in garter st (K each row) for 10 rows. Bind off.
Sew seams and with White crochet a row of s c around edges. Around neck edge work a second row of s c and finish with scallop of * 1 s c, 1 d c, 1 s c in first st, skip one st, 1 s c in next st, skip one st, repeat from * all around. Finish with small Pearl Buttons.

CAP 2009

Cast on 28 sts and work 64 rows of pattern. Next row cast on 31 sts and work 56 rows of pattern. Next row bind off the 31 cast on sts and work 64 rows of pattern, bind off. Pick up and K 95 sts across front of cap and work in garter st (K each row) for 2 inches, bind off.
Sew sides of cap together. With wool gather the back of cap to measure 2½ inches. With White crochet a row of s c around all edges of cap and finish with a row of shell sts same as jacket.
Finish with ribbon rosettes and ties as illustrated.

MITTENS 2009

Cast on 52 sts and work in pattern for 1½ inches.
Next Row–Work beading. K 2 together, * yarn over, K 2 together, repeat from * to end of row. Work in stockinette st for 2½ inches.
Next Row–* K 2 together across row and work 1 row even. Repeat from * and draw remaining sts together. Sew seams. Lace ribbon through beading.

BOOTEES 2009

On No. 1 needles cast on 43 sts and work 2 inches of pattern. Change to stockinette st and work even for 1 inch. Next row work beading for ribbon. K 1, * yarn over, K 2 together, repeat from * across row. Purl back then K 1 row, P 1 row.
Next Row–K 15, slip these sts on a st holder, K 13, slip remaining sts on a st holder, work 29 rows in garter st on the 13 sts ending on wrong side of work and place them on a double pointed needle, break yarn and tie on right hand side. K 15 sts, pick up 14 sts on side of instep, K the 13 sts on the spare needle, pick up 14 sts on other side of instep and K the remaining sts. (71 sts.) K 9 ridges. Decrease for sole by K 2 together at each end of needle and K 2 together twice at center every other row 5 times. Bind off. Sew sides and bottom seams. Run ribbon through eyelets. Run ribbon through top of bootee.
