MATERIAL:
3 skeins Germantown (1 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles No. 3
1 set sock needles No. 3
Ribbon for trimming.

PATTERN:
1st row: * K 1, slip 1 st. as if to P (yarn in front of work).

Repeat from * across row, end slip 1.

Repeat this row for pattern.

Cast on 112 sts. and work in pattern for 8 inch. Put a marker in 14th st. from each end (not counting the slipped sts.). * Work in pattern until 2 K sts. before marker, slip next K st. (yarn in back), put next slip st. to a holder and keep in back of work, K next st., pull the slipped st. over the K st., put slip st. from holder back to left hand needle, slip this st., yarn in front, slip next st. the same way (there are now 2 slip sts. next to each other.) K next St., slip 1, K next 2 K sts. tog. and put the slip st. in between these 2 sts. to a holder and keep in back of work. Put the st. from holder back to needle and slip this st., yarn in front, slip next st. the same way. (there are now 2 slip sts. next to each other.) Repeat from * once. Work in pattern to end of row. Next row: * Work in pattern to within 2 K sts. before marker, (these 2 K sts. are next to each other) slip 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 1, K 2 tog. (these 2 K sts. are next to each other). Repeat from * once, work in pattern to end of row. Work 2 rows even. Repeat last 4 rows until there are 56 sts. on needle, incl. the slip sts. With No. 3 sock needles K 14 sts., with another sock needle K next 28 sts., with 3rd sock needle K rem. 14 sts. Fold bedsock in half and slip the 14 sts. from 1st needle on one needle with the 14 sts. from 3rd needle and weave these 28 sts. tog. with the 28 sts. from 2nd needle.

FINISHING: Fold starting row in half and sew up back seam. Sew up front seam for 7 ½ inch. With No. 3 sock needles pick up 56 sts. around top of bedsock and work in ribbing K 2, P 2 for 20 rounds. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Sew ribbon trimming to front of sock as shown in picture. Work the other bedsock to correspond.
