Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" PERMANENT "CRIMP SET" NYLON
or
"DAWN" BRAEBURN SPORT YARN
or
"DAWN" SOCK & SWEATER YARN
2 ozs. Lt. Gray or Gray.
2 ozs. Scarlet.
1 oz. Canary or Buttercup.
1 oz. National Blue or Med. Blue.
1 pr. knitting needles No. 3.
5 Buttons.

GAUGE: 7 sts-1 inch.

Entire weskit is worked in garter st (K each row).

LARGE DIAMOND: With Scarlet cast on 1 st, K and increase 1 st at the beginning of each row until there are 34 sts on needle. K 2 rows even. Then decrease 1 st at the beginning of each row until 1 st remains, bind off. In same manner work 2 more diamonds in Scarlet, 1 in Lt. Gray or Gray, 2 in Canary or Buttercup and 1 in National Blue or Med. Blue.

SMALL DIAMOND: With Scarlet cast on 1 st, K and increase 1 st at the beginning of every row until there are 17 sts on needle. K 2 rows even. Then decrease 1 st at the beginning of each row until 1 st remains, bind off. In same manner work 1 more diamond in Scarlet and 14 in Canary or Buttercup, bind off.

LARGE TRIANGLE: With Scarlet, cast on 1 st and work same as large diamond until there are 34 sts on needle. Work 1 row even, bind off. In same manner work 13 more triangles in Scarlet, 12 in Lt. Gray or Gray and 15 in National Blue or Med. Blue.

SMALL TRIANGLE: With Scarlet, cast on 1 st and work same as small diamond until there are 17 sts on needle. Work 1 row even, bind off. In same manner work 9 more triangles in Scarlet, 8 in Lt. Gray or Gray, 2 in Canary or Buttercup and 8 in National Blue or Med. Blue. Sew sections together arranging colors as illustrated on chart.

Sew sections together at arrows for shoulder. Sew opposite side in same manner.

BAND: With Lt. Gray or Gray cast on 9 sts and K 14 rows.

Next Row. K 3, bind off next 3 sts for buttonhole, K 3 sts. On the next row cast on the 3 sts over the bound off sts of previous row, then space buttonholes about 2 ½ inches apart (5 buttonholes). Work even until band is long enough to go around entire weskit, bind off. Sew band to weskit and sew buttons in position.

Armhole Bands. With Lt. Gray or Gray cast on 1 st, K and increase 1 st at the beginning of every 2nd row until there are 6 sts on needle. Work even until band is long enough to go around armhole less ½ inch. Then decrease 1 st at the beginning of every 2nd row on the same side of band the increases were made until 1 st remains, bind off. Sew the longer edge of band to armhole, leaving an opening at underarm.
