Mittens Pattern #123

Size 8 Months to 1 Year

MATERIAL:
1 ball Baby yarn 3 ply (1 oz. ball)
1 set bone sock needles No. 1 and No. 2
1 bone crochet hook Size 4

   Cast on 44 sts. (12-20-12). with No. 1 needles. Join and work in ribbing K1, P1, for 2 inch. Change to No. 2 needles and plain K and work even for 1 inch. With different colored yarn K the next 7 sts., break the yarn and slip the sts. back to left hand needle and K across them again with mitten yarn. Work even for 2 inch. Decrease for tip as follows: * K2, K2 tog. Repeat from * across round. Work 1 round even. Next round: * K1, K2 tog. Repeat from * across round. Work 1 round even. Next round: * K2 tog. Repeat from * across round. Break yarn leaving about 6 inch, thread a tapestry needle and ran the yarn through the remaining sts. twice. Pull sts. tog. and fasten off tightly. Thumb: pull out thread and pick up 16 sts., divide them on 3 needles and work even for 1 inch. K2 tog. all across next round. Break yarn, leaving a 6 inch end. Finish off as tip of mitten. Work other mitten to correspond. Make a chain to des. length out of 3 strands of the yarn and sew it on to mittens. Steam lightly.
