WELL!!!! The ball must have landed on the beach at some seaside resort – and whether it be Atlantic City, Asbury Park or Newport your doll will be the best dressed there in this four piece ensemble. Beach Hat and Cape Fairly out do themselves to say nothing of the two button Bra TOP and sleek panties. King Neptune will come right out of the briny deep to see just what is making all the mermaids so discontented. Here, truly, is a PICTURE for DAVY JONES' LOCKER.

Needles—1 pair American Standard No. 3.
Material—1 one ounce ball of 3 fold Saxony, 2 small pearl buttons.
Gauge—7½ sts to 1 inch.

PANTIES

   Cast on 24 sts, K 1, P 1 for 4 rows. K 1 row increasing 5 sts, P 1 row, K 1 row for 1½ inches. Bind off 4 sts at beginning of the next 6 rows. On Center 5 sts, K 1 row, P 1 row for 6 rows. Cast on 4 sts at beginning of the next 6 rows (29 sts). K 1 row, P 1 row, for 1½ inches. On next K row, dec 5 sts. K 1, P 1 for 4 rows, bind off. Sew up sides of panties and work 1 row of s c around each leg.

BRA

   Cast on 18 sts, K 3 rows. Cast on 4 sts, K 4, P back. Cast on 4 sts. K 1 row, P 1 row, always keeping first and last 4 sts K on P side (sleeve). Work even until piece has 18 rows (9 ribs) at sleeve edges. On right side, K 7, bind off 12, K 7. Work on these 7 sts for 12 rows (6 ribs). Now inc 1 st at neck edge at beg of every row until you have 15 sts. Work even and K first 2 sts on Purled rows for border. When you have 6 rows (3 ribs) from neck edge, bind off 4 sts (sleeve) K 3 rows, bind off. Work other shoulder and front to correspond. Work 1 row of s c around neck. Sew tog at underarms. Sew on buttons; push thru knitted sts.

CAPE

   Cast on 32 sts, K 2 rows. Row 3—K 5, * inc 1 st, K 1, repeat from * across row to within last 5 sts, K 5 sts. Row 4—K 1 row even. Row 5—K 3, * Y O, K 2 tog, repeat from * across, ending with K 2. Row 6—K back. Repeat these 6 rows, 2 more times. On last row of open pattern end row with K 3 instead of K2. K 2 rows. K 14, inc 1 st in each of the next 13 sts, K 28, inc 1 st in each of the next 13 sts, K 14 sts. Now K 1 row, P 1 row for 3 inches, always knitting first and last 3 sts on purled rows, increasing every 6th row each side on 4th st. K 6 rows (3 ribs), bind off on wrong side.

HOOD

   Cast on 22 sts, K 1 row, P 1 row, always knitting last 3 sts on purled rows for border, until work measures 3½ inches (25 ridges). On next P row, P 17, turn. K back. P 15, turn (always K back), P 13, P 11, P 9, P 7, P 5, P 3. On next row, starting at back, P 4, K back. P 6 (always K back), P 8, P 10, P 12, P 14, P 16, K back. P across row, ending with K 3. K 1 row, P 1 row, for 3½ inches, bind off. Fold and sew seam up back. Sew hood to cape gathering a little. Make a chain about 8 inches, tie thru cape at front. With embroidering needle tape a piece of yarn thru top of panties and tie at back.
