No. 525-A – 2 skeins for each size.
No. 525-B – 2 skeins for each size.
No. 525-C – 1 skein of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color for each size.
No. 525-D – 2 skeins for each size.
No. 525-E – 2 skeins for each size.
No. 525-F – Size 7½-8 – 1 skein of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color.
Sizes 8½-9 or 9½-10 – 2 skeins of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color for each size.

GAUGE: 8½ sts make 1 inch; 12 rnds make 1 inch.
Sizes 7½-8 (8½-9, 9½-10).
No. 525-A – Cast on 60 sts loosely. Divide sts on 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. Knit 3 rnds. Next rnd: * K 2 together, yarn over. Repeat from * around. Knit 3 rnds. Following rnd: * K 1, p 1. Repeat from * around. Repeat the last rnd for 3 inches. Reverse work by turning inside out. Next rnd: Knit around, decreasing evenly around to 54 sts (56 sts, 58 sts). Work in stockinette st (knit each rnd) for 1½ inches. Hereafter follow directions for Foot.
No. 525-B – Cast on 60 sts loosely. Divide sts on 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 2½ inches. Next rnd: Knit around, decreasing evenly around to 54 sts (56 sts, 58 sts).
Work in rnds of stockinette st (knit each rnd) for 1½ inches.
Hereafter follow directions for Foot.
No. 525-C – With contrasting color, cast on 60 sts loosely. Divide sts on 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. 1st, 2nd and 3rd rnds: Knit around with contrasting color. 4th and 5th rnds: * With main color k 2, slip next 2 sts. Repeat from * around. Repeat these 5 rnds for pattern, until piece measures 1¾ inches, ending with the 3rd rnd of pattern. Break off main color and, with contrasting color, knit 4 rnds. Then work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 inch. Break off contrasting color, attach main color and reverse work by turning inside out. Next rnd: Knit around, decreasing evenly around to 54 sts (56 sts, 58 sts).
Work in rnds of stockinette st (knit each rnd) for 2 inches.
Now follow directions for Foot, using contrasting color for Toe and Heel Shaping.
No. 525-D – Cast on 60 sts loosely. Divide sts on 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 3 inches. Next rnd: Knit around, decreasing evenly around to 54 sts (56 sts, 58 sts).
Work in rnds of stockinette st (knit each rnd) for 2 inches.
Hereafter follow directions for Foot.
No. 525-E – Cast on 60 sts loosely. Divide sts on 3 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. 1st rnd: * K 1, p 1, k 2, p 1. Repeat from * around. 2nd rnd: * K 1, p 1, knit in the back of the 2nd st on left-hand needle, knit the first st and allow both sts to slip off left-hand needle, p 1. Repeat from * around. Repeat these 2 rnds alternately for 2 inches. Now work around in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 1½ inches. Reverse work by turning inside out. Next rnd: Knit around, decreasing evenly around to 54 sts (56 sts, 58 sts).
Work in rnds of stockinette st (knit each rnd) for 1½ inches.
Hereafter follow directions for Foot.
No. 525-F – Note: Colors will be referred to as follows: Main color—M, Contrasting color—C. Take six 1-yard strands of C.
With C cast on 61 sts loosely. Using 2 needles (as a pair) work in stockinette st (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) for 4 rows. Break off C. Attach M and work 2 rows. Start pattern as follows: 1st row: K 5 M, * attach a strand of C, k 1 C, k 9 M. Repeat from * across, ending with k 1 C, k 5 M. 2nd row: Always twist yarns around each other once when changing colors to prevent making a hole, and be careful not to draw work up too tightly when carrying yarn on wrong side. P 4 M, * 3 C, 7 M. Repeat from * across, ending with 4 M. 3rd row: K 4 M, * 3 C, 7 M. Repeat from * across, ending with 4 M. 4th row: P 2 M, * p 2 C, 1 M, 1 C, 1 M, 2 C, 3 M. Repeat from * across, ending with 2 M. 5th row: K 1 M, * 4 C, 1 M, 4 C, 1 M. Repeat from * across, ending with 1 M. 6th to 9th rows incl: Same as 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st rows respectively. Break off all strands of C. With M, purl 1 row, knit 1 row. Break off M. Attach a ball of C and work in stockinette st for ¾ inch. Divide sts on 3 needles and join (with wrong side of cuff facing). K 2 together, then work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1½ inches. Break off C, attach M and knit around, decreasing evenly around to 54 sts (56 sts, 58 sts). Work in rnds of stockinette st (knit each rnd) for 2 inches.
Hereafter follow directions for Foot, using contrasting color for Toe and Heel Shaping.
FOOT … With 4th needle, knit from 1st needle 13 sts (14 sts, 14 sts). Slip from 3rd needle onto other end of 4th needle the last 14 sts (14 sts, 15 sts) of previous rnd (4th needle is now 1st needle).
Divide between 2nd and 3rd needles for instep the remaining 27 sts (28 sts, 29 sts) and knit those sts.
Next rnd: Drop sock yarn, then, with a different color thread (for heel marker), knit across 1st needle. Drop different color thread, go back and pick up sock yarn, and, starting with 1st needle, knit around in stockinette st until piece measures from heel marker 4" (5", 6").
To Shape Toe: 1st rnd: On 1st needle, k 2 together, knit across to last 2 sts, then k 2 together. On 2nd needle, k 2 together, then knit to end. On 3rd needle, knit across to last 2 sts, then k 2 together. 2nd rnd: Knit around. Repeat these 2 rnds alternately until there remain 18 sts (20 sts, 22 sts).
Weave sts together; or bind off, fold and sew.
HEEL … Pull out heel marker, pick up sole sts on 1st needle. There are on 1st needle 27 sts (28 sts, 29 sts).
Divide remaining 26 sts (27 sts, 28 sts) between 2nd and 3rd needles.
Attach yarn at beginning of 1st needle and knit 1 rnd, picking up 2 sts between 1st and 2nd needles (1 st on each needle) and 2 sts between 3rd and 1st needles in same way. There are on needles 57 sts (59 sts, 61 sts).
Work 2 rnds straight, then work as for Toe Shaping until there remain 21 sts (23 sts, 25 sts).
Weave sts together; or bind off, fold and sew.
No. 525-A – Fold cuff on rnd of yarn-overs and whip cast-on edge down loosely on wrong side.
No. 525-B – Fold ribbing in half and sew down loosely on wrong side.
No. 525-F – Sew seam at back of cuff.
