Materials: Chadwick's Red Heart Germantown Zephyr, 2 balls (1 oz. balls). If 30-yd. balls are used, buy three times the amount specified.
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 4 (3½ mm. size).
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 1.

Starting at lower edge, cast on 106 sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 7½ inches. Bind off tightly. Sew short sides together. Then, with 2 strands of yarn, make a chain about 19 inches long. Run this chain through ribbing 1½ inches down from bound-off edge. Put hat on and draw the ends of chain tight so that hat fits to crown. Tie ends in a bow at center front.
