Man's Sleeveless Slip On Pattern

Materials Required—AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WOOL or KNITTING WORSTED
8 ozs. Oxford, Khaki or any Color desired.
1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 4.
1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 5.

Gauge: 9 sts = 2 inches. 12 rows = 2 inches.

Back. On small needles cast on (loosely) 80 sts (84) and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 4 inches. Change to large needles and continue in stockinette st, (K 1 row, P 1 row) for 10 inches, ending with a K row.
Start shaping armhole. Next 2 rows bind off 3 sts at the beginning of each row, then continue as follows:
1st Row. K 5, P to last 5 sts, K 5.
2nd Row. K across row.
3rd Row. Same as 1st row.
4th Row. K 5, K 2 together, K to the last 7 sts, K 2 together, K 5. Repeat the last 4 rows twice, 68 stitches on needle (72 sts on needle). Continue even working the first 5 sts and the last 5 sts in garter st until armhole measures 8 inches from the 1st decreasing point ending with a K row. Continue as follows:
1st Row. K 5, P 12 (P 13), K 34 (K 36), P 12 (P 13), K 5.
2nd Row. K across row.
Repeat the last 2 rows for 1 inch ending with the 1st row.
Next Row. K 22 (K 23) and place these sts on a stitch holder, bind off the next 24 sts (26 sts) for back of neck, K 22 (K 23).
Continue working on last 22 sts (23 sts) K 5, P 12 (P 13), K 5.
Shoulder. 1st Row. K across row.
2nd Row. K 5, P 12 (P 13), K 5. Repeat these 2 rows 3 times.
Neck Shaping. 1st Row. K 5, increase 1 st by knitting into the front and back of next st, K to end of row.
2nd Row. K 5, P to the last 5 sts, K 5.
3rd Row. K across row.
4th Row. Same as 2nd row.
5th Row. Same as 1st row.
6th Row. Same as 2nd row. Repeat these 6 rows until there are 34 sts, (36 sts) on needle. Break yarn and place these sts on a st holder. Join yarn at neck edge and work other shoulder to correspond ending with a P row. Do not break yarn.
Next Row. K 34 (36), K the 34 (36) sts from the stitch holder.
Next Row. K 5, P 24 (26), K 10, P 24 (26), K 5.
Next Row. K across row. Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times. Continue even until last decrease on back is reached. Increase 1 st in 6th st from each end of needle every 4th row 3 times.
Next 2 Rows. Cast on 3 sts at the beginning of each row and continue front until it measures the same length as the back, bind off loosely. Sew side seams.
