KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" 14-inch Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 10 -OR SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.
1 pair "Boye" 14-inch Non-Inflammable Needles,
Size 8 for hems and Angora collar and cuffs.

Note: If desired, coat may be made with Kwiltee only omitting Silk Tweed and using 1 pair "Boye" 14-inch Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 10 ½ -OR SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.
1 pair "Boye" 14-inch Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 8 for hems and Angora collar and cuffs.

Use 1 strand of yarn and 2 strands of Silk Tweed for entire coat.

BACK - With smaller size needles, cast on 85 (89-93) sts for facing of hem. P 1 row, k 1 row for 8 rows for facing.

Turning ridge-K on wrong side inserting needle into back of each st. With larger size needles, k 1 row, p 1 row and continue in stockinette st until 22 ins. above turning ridge. Mark for underarm.

Armholes-Bind off 3 (4-5) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows; 2 sts at beg. of each of next 8 rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 3 times; 57 (59-61) sts. Work even until 8 (8-8 ¼) ins. above marker.

Shoulders-Bind off 4 (5-6) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows; 5 sts at beg. of each of next 6 rows. Bind off 19 sts.

Pocket Linings-With larger size needles, cast on 27 sts. Work stockinette st for 7 ¼ ins., end with k row; break off. Place sts on holder. Make 2.

RIGHT FRONT-With smaller size needles, cast on 51 (53-55) sts for facing of hem. Work facing and turning ridge as on back, end at front edge. With extra yarn, cast on 5 sts to free needle, k these sts to same needle as sts of front; 56 (58-60) sts. With larger size needles, k 1 row.

Next row-P to within 2 sts of end, k 2 for garter st facing of front hem. Repeat last 2 rows until 8 ¾ ins. above turning ridge, end with p row.

Divide for Pocket Opening-K 53 (54-55), slip last 27 sts worked to holder for pocket border, k to end.

Next row-P 3 (4-5), take up and p across 27 sts of pocket lining, work remaining sts of front; 56 (58-60) sts. Work even until same length as back to armhole, end with k row. Mark for underarm.

Armhole-Bind off 3 (4-5) sts for underarm, finish row. Bind off 2 sts from armhole edge every 2nd row 3 times, end at front edge; 47 (48-49) sts.

Neck-Bind off 23 sts at beg. of next row for neck, finish row.

Next row-Bind off 2 sts from armhole edge, finish row. Dec. 1 st at armhole edge every 2nd row 3 times; 19 (20-21) sts. Work even until armhole is same length as back, end with k row.

Shoulder-Bind off 4 (5-6) sts at beg. of next row, finish row. Bind off 5 sts from armhole edge every 2nd row 3 times.

LEFT FRONT-With smaller size needles, cast on 51 (53-55) sts. Work facing as on back for 8 rows, end at front edge with k row; cast on 5 sts at end of row.

Turning ridge-K 5 cast-on sts, k to end inserting needle into back of sts. With larger size needles, k 1 row.

Next row-K 2 for facing, p to end. Work to correspond to right front up to pocket opening, end at underarm edge with p row.

Divide for Pocket Opening-K 30 (31-32), slip last 27 sts worked to holder for pocket opening, k to end.

Next row-K 2, p 24 (25-26), take up and p across sts of pocket lining, p to end.

Continue to correspond to right front until 1 row more than right front to armhole, end with p row. Mark for underarm.

Armhole-Bind off 3 (4-5) sts for underarm, finish row. Bind off 2 sts from armhole edge every 2nd row twice. Work 1 row even, end at armhole edge.

Neck-Bind off 2 sts, work to within 23 sts of end, bind off last 23 sts for neck. Join yarn in last st on needle and finish to correspond to right front.

SLEEVES-With smaller size needles, cast on 44 (46-50) sts. Work facing of hem and turning ridge as on back. With larger size needles, work stockinette st increasing 1 st each side every 12th row 7 times; 58 (60-64) sts. Work even until 16 ¼ ins. above turning ridge. Bind off 3 (4-5) sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows. Dec. 1 st each side every 2nd row 14 (14-15) times. Bind off 2 sts at beg. of each of next 4 rows. Bind off 16 sts.

POCKET BORDERS-Beg. at underarm edge of left front pocket opening, slip 27 sts from holder to larger size needle.

Row 1-wrong side-K 1, * p 1, k 1; repeat from * to end.

Row 2-P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 2 rows twice more. Bind off in ribbing. Work border on right front pocket to correspond. Block. Sew shoulder seams.

COLLAR - With larger size needles, from right side, pick up and k 42 (42-44) sts on right side edge of neck; 19 sts on back neck edge; 42 (42-44) sts on left side edge; 103 (103-107) sts. Work ribbing as on pocket borders for 5 ins. Bind off in ribbing.

FROGS - With smaller size needles, cast on 4 sts. P 1 row, k 1 row for 11 rows, end with p row.

Row 12 - K 2, k 2 tog.

Bend cast-on end around into a loop, with right side toward you, pick up and k 4 sts in the 4 cast-on sts; 7 sts.

Next row - wrong side - P 3, k 1, p 3. On following row k 3, p 1, k 3. Repeat these 2 rows for 4 ½ ins., slightly stretched, end on wrong side. On next row, k 4, place remaining 3 sts on holder. Work 8 rows even in stockinette st, end with k row. P 2, p 2 tog.; break yarn, leaving a 10-in. end for weaving. Bend around into a loop and weave last 3 sts to 3 sts on holder. Sew edges of loops tog. on wrong side. Make 3 frogs.

GAUGE: Angora-5 sts = 1 inch

13 rows = 2 inches

COLLAR FACING - With smaller size needles and Angora, cast on 103 (103-107) sts. Work ribbing as on pocket borders for 3 ¾ ins. Bind off in ribbing.

CUFF LININGS - With smaller size needles and Angora, cast on 31 (33-35) sts for lower edge. Work ribbing as on pocket borders for 3 ins., end on right side with plat beg. and end of row.

Inc. row - Inc. 1 st in first st, * p 1, inc. 1 st in next st; repeat from * to end; 47 (50-53) sts.

Next row - P 1, * k 1, p 1; repeat from * to end. Continue ribbing as before until 4 ins. from beg. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FINISHING - Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Turn back hems along turning ridge and hem to wrong side. Turn back 2 ½ sts of front edges and hem to wrong side. Sew edges of collar to bound-off sts of neck with bound-off edge of collar even with front edges. Sew in sleeves with sleeve seam at center underarm. Sew pocket linings to wrong side with lower edge at top of hem on lower edge of fronts. Sew ends of pocket borders to right side. Steam seams. Sew edges of Angora collar facing to collar as illustrated, sewing cast on edge to neck edge, ends to front neck edge and bound-off edge 1 ¼ ins. from bound-off edge of collar. Sew seams of cuff linings. Sew bound-off edge of cuff lining to wrong side of sleeves 4 ½ ins. above turning ridge. With top frog over seam of right front neck edge, lower frog 1 in. above pocket border, center frog spaced evenly between, sew frogs on right front as illustrated, sewing with 2 strands of Silk Tweed through p rib at center of frog leaving edges free to roll over. Sew 3 buttons on left front opposite frogs, with right front overlapping 5 ins. Sew a button in loop at end of each frog on right front. Sew seam binding over shoulder seams. Use shoulder pads.
