MATERIALS: BEAR BRAND or FLEISHER'S EVER-MATCH ANGEL FLEECE or BOTANY NO-DYE-LOT FLEECY-DOWN, 1 oz. skeins; White, Color A, 2 skeins; Black, Color B, 1 skein; and BEAR BRAND, FLEISHER'S or BOTANY SUPRA MOHAIR, (Imported, Brushed), White, Color C, 1 ball; Black, Color D, 1 ball.

KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Needles, Size 10½—or size you require to knit to gauge given below.

GAUGE: 7 sts = 2 inches; 19 rows = 4 inches

NOTE: Entire Hood is worked with 1 strand each of yarn and Mohair.
With 1 strand each of A and D, cast on 57 sts for back of hood.

First Stripe—Row 1—wrong side—P all sts.
Row 2—K 22, place marker on needle; slip, k and pass, k 3, inc. 1 st in next st, place marker on needle; inc. 1 st in next st, k 4, k 2 tog., place marker on needle; k 22 sts; 57 sts. Slip markers from left to right needle on every row.
Row 3—P all sts. Break off A only.
2nd Stripe—Row 4—With B and D, k to within 1 st of 2nd marker, inc. 1 st in next st, slip marker to right needle, inc. 1 st in next st, k to end; 59 sts.

Note: Carry color not in use loosely along edge, passing working colors over it at beg. of k rows.

Row 5—P all sts.
Row 6—K to first marker, slip, k and pass, k to within 1 st of 2nd marker, inc. 1 st in each of next 2 sts, k to within 2 sts of 3rd marker, k 2 tog., k to end; 59 sts.
Row 7—P all sts. Break off D only.
3rd Stripe—With B and C, repeat rows 4, 5, 6, 7 of 2nd stripe; 61 sts. Break off B only.
4th Stripe—With A and C, repeat rows 4, 5, 6, 7 of 2nd stripe; 63 sts. Break off C only.
5th Stripe—Row 16—With A and D, work same as row 6 of 2nd stripe; 63 sts.
Row 17—p all sts.
Row 18—With A and D, work same as row 6 of 2nd stripe; 63 sts.
Row 19—P all sts. Break off A only.
6th Stripe—With B and D, work same as 5th stripe; 63 sts. Break off D only.
7th Stripe—With B and C, work same as 5th stripe; 63 sts. Break off B only. With A and C, cast on 13 sts at end of last row; 76 sts.

GARTER STITCH BORDER—Row 1—right side—With A and C, work same as row 6 of 2nd stripe; 76 sts.
Row 2—With A and C, k all sts.
Repeat last 2 rows once more. Repeat row 1 again. Bind off.

Fold hood in half with side edges meet­ing. Sew cast-on edge tog. with a weav­ing st for back seam.

RIBBED NECKBAND—With B and D, join yarn on left side of lower edge, at neck edge of hood in first row of garter st border—row next to 7th stripe—. With right side facing, pick up and k 19 sts to seam; 1 st in seam; 19 sts to first row of garter st border; 13 sts in 13 cast-on sts of garter st border; 52 sts. With B and D, work k 1, p 1 ribbing for 7 rows, end with row worked on wrong side. Break off B only.

CAPE—First Stripe—Row 1—With A and D, k all sts.
Row 2—P all sts.
Row 3—K 5, * inc. 1 st in next st, place marker on needle, inc. 1 st in next st, k 11; repeat from * 3 times, end last repeat k 6 instead of k 11; 60 sts.
Row 4—P all sts. Slip markers every row as on hood. Break off A only.
2nd Stripe—Row 5—With B and D, * k to within 1 st of marker, inc. 1 st in each of next 2 sts; repeat from * 3 times, k to end; 68 sts.
Row 6—P all sts.
Row 7—Same as row 5; 76 sts
Row 8—Same as row 6. Break off D only.
3rd Stripe—With B and C, work same as 2nd stripe on cape; 92 sts. Break off B only.

GARTER STITCH BORDER—With A and C, k 2 rows even.
Next row—right side—Work same as row 5 of 2nd stripe on cape; 100 sts.
K 2 rows even, end with row worked on right side. Bind off loosely.

FINISHING — Sew seam, joining side edge of cape, neck ribbing and garter st border.
Steam lightly.
