1 Pr. Standard No. 2 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 3 Needles—14 in.
1 Size 3 Steel Crochet Hook
Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product)—4 1-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 3 Needles cast on 82 sts. P 1 row, K 1 row for 6 rows. K 1 row on wrong side for turning ridge. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 8 in. from turning ridge. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times. Work even until piece measures 4 ½ in. from underarm. Bind off 10 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows. Bind off remaining sts.

FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures ½ in. from underarm. Work over 35 sts. Place on st-holder. On remaining 35 sts, work even until piece measures 3 in. from underarm. Keeping armhole edge even, bind off 9 sts at neck edge once, then 2 sts every other row 3 times. Work even until piece measures 4 ½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 10 sts every other row twice. Work other side to correspond.

Sew shoulder and underarm seams. Work 1 row of s c around front opening, working 3 loops for buttonholes on left side.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles cast on 46 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 ½ in. Change to No. 3 Needles and work in stockinette st, increasing 1 st at each end on the 10th and every 6th row thereafter to 66 sts. Work even until piece measures 10 ½ in. from lower edge, or desired length to underarm. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 18 sts remain. Bind off. Sew sleeve seams.

Sew sleeves in place.

POCKETS: With No. 3 Needles cast on 20 sts. Work even in stockinette st until piece measures 3 in. Bind off.

Work 1 row of s c around entire pocket. Sew to left side as illustrated.

COLLAR: With No. 3 Needles, on wrong side of garment, pick up 66 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in stockinette st, increasing 1 st at each end every other row 12 times. Bind off 10 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows. Bind off remaining sts.

Work 1 row of s c around entire collar, working 3 sts in each corner st.
