Size 3 to 4 yr. — Scale: 7 ½ sts to 1 in.

1 Pr. Standard No. 2 Needles—14 in.
1 Pr. Standard No. 3 Needles—14 in.
1 Size 3 Steel Crochet Hook
Gold Medal Fingering Yarn (A Jack Frost Product)
White—3 1-oz. Skeins, Navy—1 1-oz. Skein, Robinmist—1 1-oz. Skein

BACK: With No. 2 Needles and White cast on 82 sts. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 2 in. Change to No. 3 Needles and work in striped stockinette st pattern as follows: * 2 rows Navy, 2 rows Robinmist, 4 rows White, repeat from * to neck edge. When piece measures 8 in. from lower edge, bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times. Work even until piece measures 4 ½ in. from underarm. Bind off 10 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows for shoulder. Change to No. 2 Needles. Starting on right side, K 1 row, P 1 row, for 5 rows. K 1 row on P side for turning ridge. K 1 row, P 1 row, for 5 rows. Bind off loosely.

FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures 2 ½ in. from underarm; then work as follows: Work over 26 sts, place on st-holder. Bind off next 18 sts for front of neck. On remaining 26 sts, decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 4 ½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 10 sts every other row 2 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles and White, on right side of garment, pick up 62 sts from shoulder to shoulder. P 1 row, K 1 row, for 5 rows. P 1 row on right side for turning ridge. P 1 row, K 1 row, for 5 rows. Bind off.

Sew right shoulder and underarm seams. Sew left shoulder tog. at armhole edge about ½ in.

SLEEVES: With No. 2 Needles and White, cast on 42 sts. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 2 in. Change to No. 3 Needles and work in striped pattern increasing 1 st at each end on the 11th row and every 6th row thereafter to 66 sts. Work even until piece measures 11 in. from lower edge, or desired length to underarm. Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row to 20 sts. Bind off.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.

Turn Neckband under on turning ridge and sew to wrong side. Work 1 row of s c around shoulder opening, working loops for buttonholes at front edge.
