The Avenue Blouse Pattern #146

Size 34-36

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, 5 balls of color 68 Skipper Blue. 1 pair of Milward's knitting pins No. 1 (2½ mm. size). Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6 or 7.

Gauge: 9 sts equal 1 inch; 11 rows equal 1 inch.

Back: Cast on 108 sts. K 1 row, p 1 row for 2 inches. Then increase 1 st on each end of needle every inch until there are 130 sts in all. This brings work to underarm, and should measure about 13 inches. To shape armhole, bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until there are 25 sts left. From here on, k 1 row, p 1 row for 1 inch. Bind off.

Front: Cast on 140 sts and work same as for back.

Sleeve: Cast on 25 sts. K 1 row, p 1 row, increasing 1 st on every k row on each end of needle until there are 108 sts on needle. Then decrease 1 st every inch until about 6 inches from wrist, and decrease 1 st every other k row until there are 50 sts left. Bind off. Make other sleeve to correspond. Crochet a row of s c around the armhole and on neck edges and around upper portion of sleeves. Sew up side seams and sleeve seams. Pin sleeves carefully to the armhole and sew in, leaving an opening of 3 inches on each side of front for buttoning. Sew on buttons and make ch loops to correspond. Sew buttons on back sleeve seams to correspond. Work a row of s c around bottom of blouse.

   To make monogram, make ch desired length and work a row of d c over ch. Sew on in shape of letters desired.
