MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 3(4-4-4) skeins and Contrasting Color (CC) - 1 skein for all Sizes
OR
Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - Main Color (MC) - 14(16-18-18) ozs and Contrasting Color (CC) - 4 ozs for all Sizes
Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 4 and 8 - 14 inch and 1 "Boye" cable needle
Gauge: 10 ½ sts to 2 inches; 6 rows to 1 inch (pat st-Size 8 needles)
1 "Boye" Steel Crochet Hook Size 0
BACK: With MC and Size 8 needles cast on 85(91-97-101) sts. Work in pat as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) 0(K 3 - K 6 - K 1), *P 1, K 6, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then 0(K 3 - K 6 - K 1). Row 2: 0(P 3 - P 6 - P 1), *K 1, P 6, repeat from * across, ending K 1, then 0(P 3 - P 6 - P 1) . Repeat these 2 rows for pat.
When work measures 13”(13”-13 ½”-13 ½”), or desired length from start to underarm, To Shape Raglan Armholes: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) (K 1, P 1) twice, sl 1, K 1, psso, work across to within last 6 sts, K 2 tog, (P 1, K 1) twice. Row 2: P 1, (K 1, P 1) twice, work across to within last 5 sts, P 1, (K 1, P 1) twice. Repeat these 2 rows 20(21-22-22) times more, then dec 1 st each side in this manner every row 7(8-9-11) times. Bind off rem 23(25-27-27) sts for back of neck.
POCKET FACINGS: (Make 2) With MC and Size 8 needles cast on 22 sts. Work in St St for 3 ½ inches, ending on right side of work. Sl sts onto st holder.
LEFT FRONT: With MC and Size 8 needles cast on 43(46-49-51) sts. Work in pat as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) 0(K 3 - K 6 - K 1), *P 1, K 6, repeat from * across, ending P 1. Row 2: *K 1, P 6, repeat from * across, ending K 1, then 0(P 3 - P 6 - P 1). Continue to work in pat until work measures 4 inches from start, ending on wrong side of work. Next row work pocket opening as follows: Work across 29(32-35-37) sts, sl last 22 sts of these sts onto st holder, work to end of row. On next row work across to pocket opening, work in pat across one pocket facing, work to end of row. Work 4 more rows in pat. On next row work cable twist as follows: Work in pat across to within last 21 sts, sl next sts onto cable needle and hold in back of work, K next 3 sts, then K the 3 sts from cable needle (cable twist), work in pat to end of row. Continue to work in pat and twist cable on every 8th row in this manner. When work measures same as Back to underarm, shape Raglan Armhole and Neck at the same time as follows: To Shape Raglan Armhole: Bind off 3 sts at side edge. On next row work to within last 5 sts, P 1, (K 1, P 1) twice, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row as follows: (K 1, P 1) twice, sl 1, K 1, psso, work to end of row. Repeat last 2 rows 20(21-22-22) times more, then dec 1 st in same manner every row 7(8-9-11) times more AND AT THE SAME TIME To Shape Neck: Dec 1 st at front edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every 4th row 10(11-12-12) times more, bind off last st.
RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond with Left Front, working pocket opening and armhole shaping as follows: Pocket Opening: (Right side of work) Work across 36 sts, sl the last 22 sts of these sts onto st holder, work to end of row. On next row work across to pocket opening, work across wrong side of pocket facing in pat, work to end of row. Shape Armhole as follows: Bind off 3 sts at side edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) Work across to last 6 sts, K 2 tog, (P 1, K 1) twice. Row 2: P 1, (K 1, P 1) twice, work in pat to end of row. Repeat these 2 rows 20(21-22-22) times more, then dec 1 st in same manner every row 7(8-9-11) times.
SLEEVES: With MC and Size 4 needles cast on 44(46-48-50) sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 inches, inc'ing 1 st on last row. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) K 1(2-3-4), *P 1, K 6, repeat from * across, ending P 1, then K 1(2-3-4). Row 2: P 1(2-3-4), *K 1, P 6, repeat from * across, ending K 1, then P 1(2-3-4). Repeat these 2 rows for pat, then working added sts in pat st, inc 1 st each side every 6th row 8 times, then every 4th row 3 times - 67(69-71-73) sts on needle. When work measures 14 ½”(14 ½”-15”-15”), or desired length from start to underarm, To Shape Raglan Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row as for armhole of Back 15(17-19-20) times, then dec 1 st each side in same manner every row 10(9-8-8) times, then continuing to work in ribbing, dec 1 st only at center every row 9 times. Bind off rem 2 sts.
Sew Sleeves to Fronts and Back. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. With MC work 1 row of sc across lower edge.
LEFT HALF OF COLLAR AND LEFT FRONT BORDER: With MC and Size 4 needles, starting at center back of neck, on right side of work, pick up and K sts as follows: 16 sts to Sleeve, place a marker on needle, 2 sts at top of Sleeve, 53(55-57-59) sts to first neck dec, then 84(84-86-86) sts at front edge - 155(157-161-163) sts on needle. Break MC strand and join CC. P 1 row, then work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 rows. Work short rows for Collar as follows: Row 1: Starting at center back edge, work in ribbing to 5 sts beyond marker, turn. Row 2: Sl 1, work in ribbing across row. Continue to work 5 sts more beyond marker and sl first st of Row 2 until 15 sts are worked after marker, then work 2 sts more every other row 11(9-7-5) times, then 3 sts every other row 6(8-10-12) times - 71(73-75-77) sts on needle. Work 4 more rows in ribbing across all 155(157-161-163) sts on needle. Bind off in ribbing.
RIGHT HALF OF COLLAR AND RIGHT FRONT BORDER: Work to correspond with Left Half of Collar and Left Front Border, starting at lower front edge and starting short rows on Row 2 of ribbing. When short rows are completed, work buttonholes as follows: On right side of work, starting at lower edge, work 6 sts, *bind off 3 sts, work 15 sts, repeat from * 3 times more, bind off 3 sts and work to end of row. On next row cast on 3 sts over each set of bound-off sts. Work 2 rows more, bind off.
POCKET BORDERS: With wrong side facing, sl sts of pocket onto Size 4 needle and with CC work in ribbing for 1 inch. Bind off in ribbing. Turn ribbing to right side and sew in place.
Join the 2 halves of Collar by sewing seam at center back. Sew pocket facings in place.
