MATERIALS: SPINNERIN Moth-Proofed WHIRL-KNIT 5 (5-6-7) 2-oz. Skeins
1 Pr each of Knitting Needles Nos. 4, 6 and 10.

GAUGE: 3½ sts = 1 in; 6 rows = 1 in
Important: Accurate gauge is absolutely essential.

PATTERN: A Multiple of 8 plus 7.

Row 1 (right side): P7, *YO, K1, YO, P7; repeat from * across.

Row 2: K7, *P3, K7; repeat from * across.

Row 3: P7, *with yarn in back, slip 1 st as if to K, K2 tog, pass slipped st over the K2 tog, P7; repeat from * across.

Row 4: K7, *P1, K7; repeat from * across.

Row 5: P7, *K1, P7; repeat from * across.

Row 6: Repeat Row 4.

Row 7: Purl.

Row 8: Knit.

Repeat Rows 7 and 8 once.

Row 11: P3; repeat from * in Row 1, ending with P3.

Row 12: K3, *P3, K7; repeat from * across ending with P3, K3.

Row 13: P3; repeat from * in Row 3, end­ing with P3.

Row 14: K3, *P1, K7; repeat from * ending with K3.

Row 15: P3, *K1, P7; repeat from * ending with P3.

Row 16: Repeat Row 14.

Repeat Rows 7 and 8 twice. Repeat these 20 rows for pattern.

BACK: With No. 6 needles, cast on 52 (56-60-64) sts and work in ribbing of K2, P2 for 2½ (2½-2½-3) ins. Knit across next row, dec 5 sts at even intervals (47 (51-55-59) sts). Change to No. 10 needles and start Pattern: For Sizes 12 and 16 Only: Work in pattern as given above. For Sizes 14 and 18 Only: Start and end Row 1 with P9; start and end Row 11 with P5. Being careful to keep to pattern, inc 1 st each end of every in 4 times (55 (59-63-67) sts). Work even in pattern until 10 (10½-10½-11) ins from start or desired length to armhole. Mark each end of last row for underarm. Cap Sleeve: Being careful to keep to pattern, inc 1 st each end of needle every in 6 times. At Same Time, when armhole

is 5 (5½-6-6¼) ins above marker, Shape Neck: Bind off center 25 (27-27-27) sts and working on one side only, at beg of neck edge, bind off 2 sts 3 (3-3-4) times. Work even until armhole is 7 (7½-7½-8) ins. Shape Shoulder: Dec 1 st at armhole edge every row 5 (4-6-6) times, then bind off 5 (4-6-6) sts at beg of armhole edge 3 (3-2-2) times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT: With No. 6 needles, cast on 56 (60-64-68) sts and work ribbing same as for back, dec 1 st at end of last row (55 (59-62-67) sts). Change to No. 10 needles and pattern inc 1 st each end of every in 4 times (63 (67-71-75) sts). Work even to underarm. Mark each end of last row for beg of Cap Sleeve: Inc same as for back. When armhole is 4 (4½-4½-4¾ ) ins Shape Neck: Bind off center 27 (29-29-31) sts. Working on one side only, at beg of neck edge, bind off 3 (3-3-4) sts once, 2 sts 3 times. When armhole is same as back, Shape Shoulder same as for back. Work other side to correspond.

ASSEMBLING AND FINISHING: Seam right shoulder. Neck Ribbing: With right side facing you and No. 4 needles, pick up and knit about 124 (124-128-128) sts around neck edge. Work in ribbing of K2, P2 for 3 rows and bind off on next row in ribbing. Seam left shoulder. Sleeve Ribbing: With right side facing and No. 4 needles, pick up and knit about 68 (72-72-76) sts around entire sleeve edge (back and front). Work in ribbing, dec 1 st each end of 2nd row. Bind off on next row in ribbing, binding off tightly the center 6 sts (this forms a dropped shoulder line). Seam sides.
