MATERIALS: SPINNERIN Moth-Proofed WHIRL-KNIT 7 (7-8-8) 2-oz. Skeins
1 Pr Knitting Needles No. 10
1 yd 1-in Velvet Ribbon to Match

GAUGE: 4 sts =1 in; 4 rows = 1 in (Pattern St)
Important: Accurate gauge is absolutely essential.

PATTERN: Yoke: Garter St

Body: Rows 1 and 2: Knit across.

Row 3: K1, *YO needle twice, K1; repeat from * across.

Row 4: K1, *drop the YO's and K1; re­peat from * across.

Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.

BACK: Cast on 46 (50-54-58) sts and work even in pat­tern until 11 (11-11½-11½) ins from start or required length to armhole. Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 (3-4-4) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each end of every knit row 2 (3-3-3) times (36 (38-40-44) sts). Yoke: Change to Garter St and work even until armhole is 7 (7½-7½-8) ins. Shape Shoulder: Bind off 5 (5-6-6) sts at beg of next 4 (4-2-4) rows.

For Size 16 Only: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

For All Sizes: Bind off remaining 16 (18-18-20) sts for back of neck.

FRONT: Both fronts may be worked at same time, using 2 balls of yarn. Following are instructions for each front. Cast on 27 (29-31-33) sts and work 2 rows. Slip first 3 sts on a thread to be worked for border. On remaining 24 (26-28-30) sts work in pattern same as for back to armhole. Shape Armhole: Keeping front edge even, shape armhole same as for back. Break off yarn and slip all sts onto a spare needle. Now, slip the 3 border sts on No. 10 needles and work even in Garter St until border measures same as front.

YOKE: With same needle, knit across the front sts, thus joining border to front. Change to Garter St and work even on 22 (23-24-26) sts to shoulder. Shape Shoulder: At beg of armhole edge, bind off 5 (5-6-6) sts 2 (2-1-2) times.

For Size 16 Only: Bind off 5 sts once.

For All Sizes: Bind off remaining 12 (13-13-14) sts.

SLEEVE: Cast on 32 (34-38-40) sts and work in Garter St for 8 rows. Change to Body Pattern and work even un­til 17 (17- 17½-18) ins from start or required length to underarm. Shape armhole same as for back. Change to Garter St and continue to dec 1 st each end of every 4 rows 3 (3-4-4) more times. Bind off remaining sts.

ASSEMBLING AND FINISHING: Seam shoulders, underarms and sleeves. Sew in sleeves, matching yoke, and easing in fullness at top of sleeve. Sew Garter St border to front edge. Turn back front neck edge to form lapel and tack. Sew ribbon to front edges at base of yoke.
