SIZES: 4 (6-8-38-40-42)

MATERIALS: SPINNERIN Moth-Proofed WHIRL-KNIT 2 (2-2-4-4-5) 2-oz. Skeins each of colors A and B
1 Pr each of Knitting Needles Nos. 6 and 10

GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 in; 11 rows = 2 ins
Important: Accurate gauge is absolutely essential.

PATTERN: Seed St (SS), Stockinette St and Ribbing of K2, P2 as described below.

BACK: With Color A and No. 6 needles, cast on 44 (48-52-76-80-84) sts and work in ribbing of K2, P2 for 2 (2½-2½-3½-4) ins. Change to No. 10 needles and start Pattern as follows: Row 1 (right side) : K10 (11-12-14-14-15), *P1, K1, SS4 (5-5-11-12-12), K1, P1*, K8 (8-10-18-20-22); repeat from * to * once, K10 (11-12-14-14-15). Row 2: P10 (11-12-14-14-15), *K1, PI, SS4 (5-5-11-12-12), P1, K1*, P8 (8-10-18-20-22); repeat from * to * once, P10 (11-12-14-14-15). Repeat these 2 rows for pattern and work even until 7 (7-7½-13½-14-14) ins from start or required length to armhole. Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 (4-4-5-5-5) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each end of every other row 3 (3-4-4-4-5) times (32-(34-36-58-62-64) sts). Work even until armhole is 5½ (6-6½-9-9½-10) ins. Shape Shoulder: Bind off 4 (4-4-9-10-10) sts at beg of next 4 (2-2-4-4-4) rows.

For Sizes 6 and 8 Only: Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Neck Ribbing: On remaining 16 (16-18-22-22-24) sts, change to No. 6 needles and work in ribbing of K2, P2 for 3 (3-4-5-5-5) rows and bind off loosely in ribbing on next row.

POCKET LINING: Make 2: With Color B and No. 10 needles, cast on 7 (7-7-13-14-14) sts and work in stockin­ette st for 1½ (1½-2-3-3-3) ins. Break off yarn and slip these sts on a spare needle.

FRONT: With Color B and No. 6 needles, cast on 44 (48-52-76-80-84) sts and work same as for back until 1½ (1½-2-3-3-3) ins above end of ribbing, end on wrong side. Pocket Opening: K10 (12-13-15-15-16), *slip next 7 (7-7-13-14-14) sts on a thread. Now, slip the pocket lining sts for one pocket onto left-hand needle, having knit side of lining facing wrong side of work. Work across lining sts in pattern*, then work 10 (10-12-16-18-20) sts and re­peat from * to * once, knit to end of row. Continue to work same as for back to armhole. Shape Armhole, same as for back. At Same Time, when working 2nd armhole dec, divide work in half for Neck Opening and working on one side only, Shape Neck: Dec 1 st at neck edge every 3 rows 8 (8-9-11-11-12) times. Work even on 8 (9-9-18-20-20) sts until armhole is same as back. Shape Shoulder: At beg of armhole edge, bind off 4 (4-4-9-10-10) sts 2 (1-1-2-2-2) times.

For Sizes 6 and 8 Only: Bind off 5 sts once.

Front Neck Ribbing: With right side facing, No. 6 needles and Color A, pick up and knit about 49 (53-53-73-77-81) sts along entire neck edge, slipping a marker on needle each side of the center front st (K the center st on right side of work and P it on wrong side of work). Work in ribbing, dec 1 st each side of center st on every row until band is completed. Work same number of rows as in back of neck. Bind off in same manner as for back.

ASSEMBLING AND FINISHING: Seam shoulders. Arm­band: With right side facing, No. 6 needles and Color A, pick up and knit about 48 (52-56-76-80-84) sts around armhole edge. Work same number of rows as for neckband and bind off in same manner. Seam underarms. Pocket Band: At­tach Color A at beg of pocket opening and with No. 6 needles, pick up and K 1 st, then knit across the sts on thread, pick up and K 1 st at other end of opening. P 1 row, K 1 row and bind off on next row. Work band on other pocket in same manner. Sew pocket lining in place.
