Starting at neck, using circular needle cast on 136 sts., join (being careful not to twist sts.), K. 1 st., P. 1 st., (ribbing) for 1 inch.
Now start body of sweater.
Row 1—(Marking the start of row with a thread), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts. (to increase, K. 1 st. in front loop of st. leaving st. on left needle and K. 1 st. in back loop of same st.), K. 15 (sleeve), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 48 (back), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 15 (sleeve), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 50 (front).
Row 2—Knit.
Row 3—K. 1 st., increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 17 (sleeve), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 50 (back), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 17 (sleeve), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 51.
Row 4—and all even rows K.
Row 5—K. 2, increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 19 (sleeve), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 52 (back), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 19 (sleeve), increase 1 st. in each of the next 2 sts., K. 52.
Continue to increase in this manner 8 sts. every other row until there are 50 increases at each shoulder seam. (Raglan slant measures 11 ins.)
Continue to work across to first increase st. of sleeve.
Now using circular needle as stitch holder, with No. 2 straight needles on next 117 sts., work left sleeve in Stockinette st., K. 1 row, P. 1 row, for 2 inches even, then decrease 1 st. each side every half inch until 60 sts. remain, work even until underarm measures 17 inches, then K. 1 st., P. 1 st., tightly (or use a No. 1 steel needle if desired), for 4 inches, bind off.
BACK—On next 150 sts. work in Stockinette st. for 11 inches, then K. 1 st., P. 1 st., ribbing (tightly) for 4 inches.
Work right sleeve same as left, then on remaining 152 sts., work front same as back.
Sew underarm seams.
