BACK—With No. 1 steel needles cast on 112 sts., K. 2 sts., P. 2 sts., (ribbing) for 6 inches. Change to No. 4 needles, K. 1 row, P. 1 row, (Stockinette st.) for 11 inches, bind off 5 sts. at the beginning of the next 2 rows, decrease 1 st. each side every other row 10 times (82 sts.). Work even until armholes measure 9 inches, then K. 62 sts., put remaining 20 sts. on a stitch holder for shoulder, turn, P. 42 sts., put remaining 20 sts. on a stitch holder for other shoulder, now on center 42 sts. work the facing for neck, K. 2 sts. together at the beginning of the next 4 rows, bind off loosely.

FRONT FACING—Cast on 38 sts., increase 1 st. at the beginning of the next 4 rows (42 sts.), slip shoulder sts. and facing sts. all on one needle, with facing sts. in the center. Finish front to correspond with back.

SLEEVES—On No. 1 needles cast on 60 sts., K. 2 sts., P. 2 sts., for 4 inches, change to No. 4 needles, K. 1 row, P. 1 row, increasing 1 st. each side every inch 18 times (96 sts.).

Work 2 inches even or desired length, bind off 5 sts. at the beginning of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 10 times, bind off remaining sts.

Fold and sew facing to inside of neck.

Sew sleeves in place, sew underarm seams.
