MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Shetland Floss, 8 balls (1 oz. balls).
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 2 (2¾ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size).
A 4-inch slide fastener.

MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING: Bust—35½ inches. Length from top of shoulder—21 inches. Length of sleeve, underarm seam—5 inches.

GAUGE: 7 sts make 1 inch; 9 rows make 1 inch.

BACK. Starting at bottom, with No. 2 needles cast on 108 sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for 4 inches. Change to No. 3 needles and k across, increasing 18 sts at equal distances apart (126 sts). Work 8 inches in stockinette st (p 1 row, k 1 row).

TO SHAPE ARMHOLES: Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows. Then dec. 1 st at end of each row until 90 sts remain. Work straight until piece measures 7 inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. To shape shoulders, bind off 3 sts at beginning of each row until 42 sts remain. Bind off.

FRONT. Starting at bottom, with No. 2 needles cast on 116 sts and work 4 inches in ribbing. Change to No. 3 needles and k across, increasing 18 sts at equal distances apart (134 sts). Work 8 inches in stockinette st.

TO SHAPE ARMHOLES: Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 4 rows. Then dec. 1 st at end of each row until 90 sts remain. Work 2 rows straight. On next row, with right side of work toward you, k across 1st 45 sts, turn (thus starting center front opening). Hereafter work over these 45 sts only until piece measures 6 inches from 1st row of armhole shaping. To shape neck, starting at center front opening, bind off 6 sts once and 3 sts every other row twice. Then dec. 1 st every other row until 21 sts in all are decreased at neck edge but, when piece measures 7 inches from 1st row of armhole shaping, shape shoulder by binding off 3 sts at armhole every other row until all sts are worked off. Break off. Attach yarn at base of center front opening, and work opposite side to correspond.

SLEEVES. Starting at bottom, with No. 2 needles cast on 80 sts and work in ribbing for 1 inch. Change to No. 3 needles and work in stockinette st, increasing 1 st at both ends of every 6th row until there are 90 sts on needle. Work straight until piece measures 5 inches in all. To shape top of sleeve, bind off 4 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows. Then dec. 1 st at end of each row until 52 sts remain. Now bind off 2 sts at beginning of each row until 18 sts remain. Bind off.

COLLAR. With No. 2 needles, cast on 110 sts and work in ribbing for 2½ inches. Bind off.

Sew up underarm and shoulder seams. Sew up sleeve seams, and sew sleeves in. Sew collar all around neck edge. Sew slide fastener along both sides of center front opening.
