MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Baby Wool, 4 balls (¾ oz. balls) for Size 1; 5 balls for Size 2 … Clark's O.N.T. Plastic or Aluminum Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1 (2½ mm. size) … Steel Crochet Hook No. 6 … 6 small pearl buttons.

GAUGE: 9 sts make 1 inch; 14 rows make 1 inch.

on needle. Work without increasing until piece measures same as Back to ribbing. Keeping the 4 border sts at front edge in pattern as before, work remaining sts in ribbing of p 2, k 2 for 18 rows. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

To Shape Right Front: Attach yarn at neck edge. 1st row: K 2, p 2, work in pattern to end of row. 2nd row: K across to last 5 sts, inc 1 st in next st, k 4. Continue as for Left Front, increasing in the 5th st from front edge until work reaches ribbing, ending at side edge.

RIBBING … Keeping border pattern as before, work 2 rows of p 2, k 2 ribbing. 3rd row: P 2, k 2, p 2, bind off 2 sts, work in ribbing to last 4 sts, bind off 2 sts, k 2. 4th row: K 2, cast on 2 sts, work in ribbing to last 8 sts, cast on 2 sts (to replace those bound off), k 2, p 2, k 2. The last 2 rows (3rd and 4th rows) are the buttonhole rows. Continue in ribbing, making buttonhole rows every 5th and 6th rows from previous buttonhole until 3 sets of buttonholes in all have been made. Complete as for Left Front.

SLEEVES … With right side facing, attach yarn at underarm. Pick up and knit
