MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 6(7-7-7) Main Color (M C); 1 each Colors A and B
1 pair straight knitting needles No. 8 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
Elastic thread

GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch; 8 rows or 4 ridges = 1 inch in garter st

STRIPING PATTERN
Rows 1 and 2: Using Color A, knit.
Rows 3 and 4: Using Color B, knit.
Row 5: Using Color A, K 1, * sl 1 as to P, K 1, repeat from * across row.
Row 6: Using Color A, K 1, * bring yarn to front of work, sl 1, throw yarn to back of work and K 1, repeat from * across row.
Rows 7 and 8: Using Color B, knit.
Rows 9 and 10: Using Color A, knit.
Rows 11 through 20: Repeat Rows 1 through 10.
These 20 rows form striping pattern.

NOTE: This slipon is worked vertically and it is very im­portant to obtain the ROW GAUGE as given above.

FRONT: Using M C, starting at right underarm seam, cast on 52(54-56-58) sts. Marking end of first row for lower edge, K even in garter st for 12(14-14-16) rows, ending at upper edge. SHAPE RIGHT ARMHOLE: At beg of next row cast on 29 (31-33-35) sts and K even on 81(85-89-93) sts for 7(7-9-9) rows, ending at lower edge. SHAPE WAIST­LINE: SHORT ROWS: Row 1: Starting at lower edge, K 24(25-26-27), turn. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl 1 st, K to end of row. Row 3: K 20, turn. Row 5: K 16, turn. Continue in this manner to K 4 sts less every other row 3 times more, ending at lower edge. On next row K all 81(85-89-93) sts on needle. SHAPE BUSTLINE: SHORT ROWS: Row 1: Starting at upper edge, K 49(53-56-60), turn. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl 1, K to end of row. Row 3: K 41(45-48-52), turn. Continue in this manner to K 8 sts less every other row twice more, ending at upper edge. K 2 rows on all 81(85-89-93) sts on needle. Break off M C. Work 20 rows of striping pattern. Break off Colors A and B. Join M C and K even for 32 rows. Break off M C. Work 20 rows of striping pattern. Break off Colors A and B. Join M C and K even for 2 rows. SHAPE BUSTLINE: SHORT ROWS: Row 1: Starting at upper edge, K 25(29-32-36), turn. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl 1, K to end of row. Row 3: K 33(37-40-44), turn. Continue in this manner to work 8 sts more every other row twice more, ending at upper edge. On next row K all 81(85-89-93) sts on needle. SHAPE WAIST­LINE: SHORT ROWS: Row 1: Starting at lower edge, K 4(5-6-7), turn. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl 1, K to end of row. Row 3: K 8(9-10-11), turn. Continue in this manner to K 4 sts more every other row 4 times more, ending at lower edge. K even on all 81(85-89-93) sts for 7(7-9-9) rows. SHAPE LEFT ARMHOLE: Starting at upper edge, bind off 29(31-33-35) sts, K to end of row. K even on 52 (54-56-58) sts for 12(14-14-16) rows. Bind off.

BACK: Work to correspond to front.

SLEEVES: Using M C, starting at underarm seam, cast on 39 sts. Mark beg of first row for upper edge. K even in garter st for 26(28-30-32) rows, ending at upper edge. SHORT ROWS: Row 1: K 35(35-36-37), turn. Row 2 and all even rows: Sl 1, K to end of row. Row 3: K 31(31-33-35), turn. Row 5: K 27(27-30-33) turn. Row 7: K 23(24-27-30), turn. Row 9: K 19(21-24-27), turn. Row 11: K 15(18-21-24), turn. Continue to K 3 sts less every other row 5(6-7-8) times more, ending at upper edge. K 2 rows even on all 39 sts. Break off M C and work 20 rows of strip­ing pattern. Break off Colors A and B. Join M C and K 2 rows, ending at upper edge. SHORT ROWS: K 3, turn. Sl 1, K to end of row. K 6, turn. Sl 1, K to end of row. Continue to K 3 sts more every other row 3(7-11-9) times more and 4(4-0-2) sts more every other row 6(1-0-3) times. K even on all 39 sts for 26(28-30-32) rows. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew underarm seams. Sew shoulder seams, leaving center panel and 2 pattern stripes free. Sew sleeve seams to within 6(7-7-8) sts of upper edge. Set in sleeves, sewing the 6(7-7-8) sts left open to each side of underarm. Block. Weave elastic thread through lower edge of slipon and sleeves and through neck edge.
