Pullover Sweater Pattern 5891

These directions are for subteen size 8. Changes for subteen sizes 10, 12 and 14 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Sports (2 oz. balls) — 5(5-6-6) Main Color (M C); 1 each of Color A and Color B
1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 2 and 4 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 set d p needles No. 2

GAUGE: 7 sts = 1 inch; 10 rows = 1 inch

BACK: Using No. 2 needles and M C, cast on 108(114-118-124) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3½ inches, inc 1 st at end of last row — 109(115-119-125) sts. Change to No. 4 needles and work even in M C stockinette st for 4(0-2-6) rows. Following Chart A, work in stockinette st until piece measures 11(11½-12-12½) inches, ending with P row. SHAPE ARMHOLES: Row 1: Still following Chart A, K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso (dec), work to last 3 sts, K 2 tog, K 1. Row 2: Purl. Repeat these 2 rows 4(5-5-6) times more. Work even on 99(103-107-111) sts until armholes measure 5½(6-6½-7) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 4 rows bind off 8(8-8-9) sts. At the beg of each of the next 4 rows bind off 8(9-9-9) sts. Put remain­ing 35(35-39-39) sts onto holder.

FRONT: Using No. 2 needles and M C, cast on 108(114- 118-124) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3½ inches, inc 1 st at end of last row — 109(115-119-125) sts. Change to No. 4 needles and following Chart B, work design in stockinette st until 76(80-85-90) rows of chart have been completed, ending with P row. SHAPE ARMHOLES: Row 1: Still following Chart B, K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso (dec), work to last 3 sts, K 2 tog, K 1. Row 2: Purl. Repeat these 2 rows 4(5-5-6) times more. Work even on 99(103-107-111) sts until armholes measure 4(4½-5-5½) inches, ending with P row. SHAPE NECK: Work 35(37-37-39) sts, put next 29(29-33-33) sts onto holder, join another ball of yarn, work last 35(37-37-39) sts. Working on both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 3 times.
Work even on 32(34-34-36) sts of each side until armholes meas­ure 5½(6-6½-7) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At each arm edge bind off 8(8-8-9) sts twice and 8(9-9-9) sts twice.

SLEEVES: Using No. 2 needles and M C, cast on 56(60-62-66) sts. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3½ inches, inc 1 st at end of last row — 57(61-63-67) sts. Change to No. 4 needles and following Chart C, work design in stockinette st, inc 1 st each end of needle every 10th(8th-8th-8th) row 5(8-14-10) times and every 8th(8th-6th-6th) row 9(8-4-10) times. Work even on 85(93-99-107) sts until Chart C is completed. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams, matching patterns. Set in sleeves. NECKBAND: Using d p needles and M C, with right side facing you, pick up 104(108-112-116) sts around neck, including sts from holders. K 2, P 2 in ribbing for 3½ inches. Bind off loosely. Block to size.
