MATERIALS
BERNAT Nylo Germantown (2 oz. skeins) — 5(5-6-6) Main Color (M C)
BERNAT Bob-o-Germantown (20 yd. cards) — 2 Color A; 1 Color B
1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 3 and 5 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 set d p needles No. 3

GAUGE: 11 sts = 2 inches; 7 rows = 1 inch

BACK: Using No. 3 needles and M C, cast on 84(88-92-96) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 1 inch. Change to No. 5 needles and work even in stockinette st until piece measures 10½(11-11½-12) inches, ending with a P row. SHAPE RAG­LAN ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 3 sts. Then work as follows: Row 1: K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso (dec), K to last 3 sts, K 2 tog (dec), K 1. Row 2: Purl. Repeat these 2 rows 22(24-25-27) times more. Sl remaining 32(32-34-34) sts onto a holder.

POCKET LININGS: Make 2. Using No. 5 needles and M C, cast on 17(17-17-19) sts. Work even in stockinette st for 3(3-3½-3½) inches, ending with a K row. Sl sts onto a holder.

FRONT: Work to correspond to back until piece measures 3½(3½-4-4) inches, ending with a P row. POCKET BANDS: Row 1: K 13(15-17-17) sts, P 1, K 1, in ribbing for 17(17-17-19) sts, K 24, P 1, K 1 in ribbing for 17(17-17-19) sts, K 13(15-17-17). Row 2: P 13(15-17-17) sts, K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 17(17-17-19) sts, P 24, K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 17(17-17-19) sts, P 13(15-17-17). Repeat these 2 rows once more. On next row K to first pocket band, bind off the next 17(17-17-19) sts, K to second pocket band, bind off the next 17(17-17-19) sts, K to end of row. INSERT POCKETS: P 13(15-17-17) sts, P the 17(17-17-19) sts of one pocket lining to same needle, P 24, P the 17(17-17-19) sts of other pocket lining to same needle, P to end of row. Continue in stockinette st on 84(88-92-96) sts until piece measures 10½(11-11½-12) inches, ending with a P row. SHAPE RAGLAN ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 3 sts. Then work as follows: Row 1: K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso (dec), K to last 3 sts, K 2 tog (dec), K 1. Row 2: Purl. Repeat these 2 rows 17(19-20-22) times more, ending with a K row. SHAPE NECK: On the next row P 10, sl center 22(22-24-24) sts on a holder, join another ball of yarn and P last 10 sts. Working on both sides at once and continuing to dec 1 st at each arm edge in same manner as before every other row 5 times more, at each neck edge dec 1 st EVERY ROW 5 times. Fasten off.

SLEEVES: Using No. 3 straight needles and M C, cast on 42(44-46-48) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 2 inches. Change to No. 5 needles and P 18(19-20-21) sts, put a marker on needle, P 6, put a marker on needle, P 18(19-20-21). Work­ing in stockinette st following chart, keep the 6 sts between markers in design and inc 1 st each end of needle every 1½ inches 7(8-8-9) times. Work even on 56(60-62-66) sts until piece measures 15(15½-16-16½) inches, ending with a P row. SHAPE RAGLAN CAP: Still following chart, at the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 3 sts. Then work as follows: Row 1: K 1, sl 1, K 1, psso, K to last 3 sts, K 2 tog, K 1. Row 2: Purl. Repeat these 2 rows 22(24-25-27) times more. Sl remaining 4 sts onto a holder.

FINISHING:Sew sleeves to back and front armholes. Sew underarm seams. TURTLE NECK: Using d p needles and M C, with right side facing you, pick up 88(88-92-92) sts around neck, including sts from holders. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. Bind off loosely in ribbing. Sew pocket linings in place. Block to size.
