MATERIALS
BERNAT Cuddlespun (2 oz. skeins) — 6(7-7-8)
1 pair straight knitting needles No. 8 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
1 aluminum crochet hook Size G
3 buttons
GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch; 5 rows = 1 inch
BACK: Cast on 59(63-67-71) sts. Row 1: K 1, * P 1, K 1 repeat from * across row. Row 2: P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures 5½(5½-6-6) inches. SHAPE DOLMAN SLEEVES: At the beg of each of the next 8 rows cast on 6 sts. Work even in ribbing as established on 107(111-115-119) sts until sleeves measure 4½(5-5½-6) inches above last group of cast on sts. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 6 rows bind off 10 sts. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 6(8-9-11) sts. Work even on remaining 35(35-37-37) sts for 1 inch. Bind off.
FRONT: Cast on 26(28-30-32) sts for left half. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 2 rows. On the next row, inc 1 st at end of row. Mark this edge for center edge and repeat inc at center edge every 3rd row twice more, forming new ribs as sts are increased — 29(31-33-35) sts. Work 1 row even, ending at underarm edge. Sl sts onto a holder. Do not break yarn. Work right piece to correspond to left, reversing shaping and ending at center edge. Sl 29(31-33-35) sts from holder to same needle. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 29(31- 33-35) sts, cast on 1 st, work to end of row. Work even in ribbing as established on 59(63-67-71) sts until piece measures 5½(5½-6-6) inches. SHAPE DOLMAN SLEEVES: At the beg of each of the next 8 rows cast on 6 sts — 107(111-115-119) sts. FRONT OPENING: Starting at left arm edge, work ribbing for 50(52-54-56) sts, sl remaining 57(59-61-63) sts onto a holder; cast on 7 sts for underlap, turn. Work even on 57(59-61-63) sts until sleeve measures 4½(5-5½-6) inches above last group of cast on sts. SHAPE SHOULDER: At arm edge bind off 10 sts 3 times and 6(8-9-11) sts once. Work even on remaining 21(21-22-22) sts for 1 inch. Bind off. RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping and forming first buttonhole when front opening measures 1 inch. BUTTONHOLE: Starting at front edge, work 2 sts, bind off the next 2 sts, work to end of row. On the next row cast on 2 sts over those bound off previous row. Make 2 more buttonholes, evenly spaced — the last one to be made 1½ inches below neck edge.
FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. CUFFS: With right side facing you, pick up 36(40-44-48) sts across lower edge of sleeve. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 4½ inches. Bind off. Sew underarm seams. With right side facing you, sl st around notch at lower front edge and across each front edge. Steam lightly. Sew on buttons.
